I got the Delux dining plan... I'll tell you if it's worth it in a few weeks...

I believe now that it is rarely worth having. The best thing is to go over menus, add up what you expect to eat. The appetizer and tip are no longer included (there was a fairly long thread on this recently too)

What she said. I have looked at it a couple of times and each time decided not to go with it.

If you're an annual passholder and/or Florida resident, the best bargain for food is the Disney Dining Experience. You get 20% off almost every sit down restaurant on property for you and up to nine guests.

Like an annual pass, it is valid for one calendar year.

If you are going to eat at a table-service restaurant every day, then it might be worth it to you. As mentioned earlier, you need to look at the menus and do the math.

For my family, the DDP would be a huge waste of money. In a week at WDW, we eat maybe 2 table-service meals all week. I've done the math, and it's not even close.

So like I said, it mainly depends on how you like to eat while at WDW.

For me it is still worth it due to eating at table service resturants everyday. If you prefer counter service then it's just a waste of money.

There are different dining plans with different options.

The Disney Dining Plan covers for each person for each night of your stay.
1 table service meal plus 1 counter service meal plus 1 snack.
It is $38 per day for adults and $10 per day for children.

table service meal
At an a-la-carte type place for lunch and dinner, you get an entree, drink, and desert. Tax is included but tip is not. At breakfast you get juice, entree, and drink.
At a buffet you get the buffet, which usually has salads, entrees and deserts, drink, tax is included but you pay the tip. Breakfast buffets usually have some fruit, the usual breakfast stuff, and then some pastries. Drink is included as is tax but you pay the tip.
At a family style place they usually have a set meal of some sort of salad or soup or appetizer, entree and desert. Some you'll choose your entree. Others they bring a selection of entrees out. Drinks and tax are included but you pay the tip.
Note that character meals are included.
Also note that some restaurants and some character meals require two credits.
There are also some dinner shows that require two credits.

Counter service meal
You get the entree or combo, drink, plus desert and taxes are included. At breakfast you get juice instead of desert.
1 snack a day such as an Ice cream cookie sandwich, or a popcorn. There are limitations.

Generally to make this worth it you pretty much have to eat a sit down dinner a night. If you don't have those planned it's probably better to stay on your own.


The deluxe dining plan
This is $70 per adult and $20 for kids per day.

This includes three meals per night of your stay. They can be table service or counter as you see fit.

At lunch or dinner at an a-la-carte place you get
Appetizer, entree, desert, drink, tax is included, tip is not.
Buffets, character meals
At breakfast in an off the menu place they pretty much don't have Appetizers, so you get a juice plus another soft drink. Ostensibly so you can have your juice and coffee or juice and milk I suppose.
the counters are same as above except you get a juice instead of a desert.

Some restaurants and character meals still cost 2 credits
Some dinner shows cost 2 credits.
There is room service or pizza service available for 2 credits.

You also get 2 snacks per day
A complimentary resort refillable mug.

To make this work, you really have to eat a lot of sit down meals pretty much. And given the reality is you're probably only going to want to do this if you eat at a lot of signature places. You would use two credits at a signature place, use up your other credit at a standard place, and then go with the snacks. Or, if you just love to do a ton of character meals and don't really load up or anything, maybe this one is right for you too.
