Ah, thanks for that little tidbit. I had known about the pod racer script that has been approved by Lucasfilm but never turned into the ride but didn't realize that was the reason they changed the store.

It always bothered me why we go to Endor yet have a store that's Tatooine. Just goes to show how huge the star wars universe is though! Would be great to have a bigger space to represent it.

^^^ Definitely more thematically consistent. The new Jedi training stage looks kind of similar to Endor Vendors but also looks shoehorned into the space (which it is). Both Star Wars and Indiana Jones could easily have "lands" of their own...a waste of two good franchises IMO.

I don't know if I would call them wastes. I like Star Tours and Indy is by far the best stunt show at DHS. I would love a second Star wars and Indy ride, plus a Mos Eisley Cantina TS

^^ I wasn't saying that Star Tours or the Indy Show were bad. I meant that Disney could have done a lot more with these two franchises, if they had had the will.

I had a lengthy reply about new Indy and Star Wars lands but I had that error about mice chat being too busy and it destroyed my post. Maybe I'll write it again but it just wouldn't be as good as one I just wrote. Oh well.

It's not about "will" so much as it is about licensing and rights and all those legal matters that are above most everyone's understanding. Lucas gave Disney the rights to do Star Tours because he felt if anyone could do a ride that was true to his vision, it was the Disney Imagineering. I think he was on the record to say that if nobody else could do it, not even Disney, he would try to do it himself eventually. Chances are (or I would like to believe that) Lucas was impressed with how Disney handled the licensing rights that he let them have Indy for the stunt shows and the rides for California and Tokyo.

If they had the ability, they could expand on those. But unless Lucas gives the green-light on those projects, it won't happen.

Incidently, Lucas is also responsible for the original Alien Encounter that Stitch took over. I doubt he's pleased about that.

OK. I'm definately with you on that. I would love to see an expanded Lucas Area. Maybe including a redone Sounds Dangerous themed for THX

It was largely due to Lucas' interference that the original Alien attraction was not built as Imagineers had envisioned it...Jim Hill wrote a nice series of articles on this a few years back (you can find them by searching the archives on his site...they are a good read about what might have been).

I know that's the prevailing attitude at this site. Certainly, as far as future attractions are concerned, Mr. Hill's speculations are largely without any merit. He has, however, written some very nice articles on unbuilt attractions, which I for one find quite credible. We should give credit where due.

Dang, you took what I wanted to say.

What I wanted to say was that Disney Hollywood Studios needs to compete with Universal. Right now, they have "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" right now, and Disney needs something of that nature. A while back, I thought that a way to compete with this would be a 20-acre themed area based on Indiana Jones. It could have two areas:

    1.) The Kingdom
2.) The Village (with shops and restaraunts)

    Just my 2 cents...

Re: DAK v DHS:Who needs a New Land?

    Hollywood Studios...
    Lands
-Lucus Film Area (NEW Star Tours, Indiana Jones Adventures, Stunt Show)
-Pixar Place (Midway Mania, Monsters Inc. Mike and Sully, Ratatouille Coaster, Incredables PeopleMover)
    Attractions
-Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Ride
    -Improved Great Movie Ride
-Villans Dark Ride or Lonesome Gohsts Dark Ride (The Haunted Mansion of today)
and... move the Sorcerers Hat to the site of Bay Lake

    Animal Kingdom
-new show/ride where the Nemo Musical is
-Beastly Kingdomme (with all of the planned Attractions) where Camp Minnie-Mickey is
-A Bug's Land attractions where Discovery Island is (extended Chew Chew Train)

I think they would be able to fit all of this...
    maybe after the DCA rennovations
