Villians theme park at WDW?

OK, Disney theme park friends who are in the know, I need some clarification!!

I am a cast member at Disney Store in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Recently a guest was shopping in the store with his family and told us he works with a development company in the Orlando area, and that he is beginning work/breaking ground on a new theme park based on Disney villians, that is suppose to compete with the thrill rides at Universal.

Was he telling the truth? I didn't think the good folks at Disney would allow that kind of information loose for the general public to know about?

Anyone hear anything about a villians theme park?

Just a rumor and most likely something that will never happen. I can see a land for villains. But an entire park? Talk about a limited concept! It's a bad idea even for a land, my opinion.

Old idea. Not in the works as far as I know. There might be something else, but it isn't a traditional park. And you won't see it before 2011

I agree, it would be a great addition to a park, but could never hold it's own as an entire theme park.

Not sure I would get too excited, I've heard this rumor every few years, if they where really "breaking ground soon" we would have had the permit links posted everywhere and a lot of hype by now...

I remember hearing about this rumor back in 2004. I can't remember which website it was called, but the name of this new park was going to be called "Disney's Iron Kingdom." Some of the rumored attractions were going to be "Jafar's Cave of Wonders", which had the same system like Indiana Jones, and a Chernabog coaster.

Personally, I'd love to see Disney compete with Islands of Adventure.

i keep hearing from internal and external sources that the new park will be the Night Kingdom...and that this is the ony direction Disney wants to go in. It is to combat Discovery Cove in terms of an unforgettable and unique experience. Villains Park is an awesome idea, but ot likely....

Not going to happen. Disney will not put all thrill rides in one park. They spread everything out to make you go to all the parks. They do not compete with Universal, I have friends who work at Universal and they say Universal is greatful for Disney or they would have gone bust the first year. They depend on the crowds Disney brings in and blesses the overflow.

Although a Villains park would be fun I just don't think it would be practical. The best thing that they could do is add villainous attractions. A Hades roller coaster through Hell would be fun. But the question is where would any of this go? MJM's suggestion of something to offset Fantasyland is cool. Disney does need to show some of it's dark side. But, when that happens it doesn't seem to last long, take Alien Encounter and Countdown to Extinction for example. For what ever reason it just doesn't last there. I would personally love to see a Disney Ride that would scare the bajeebus out of me.

I'm just assuming at this point, we're really talking about a Villian expansion to DHS or MK. There will never be a true 5th gate

I'd love to see a couple villains themed attractions in the back of Fantasyland. There's still some primo real estate behind Pooh's Boring Spot. Take out the stupid playground and develop it and the rest of the land to include some solid D and maybe an E ticket attractions and you'd probably have some very happy campers.

I agree, there is a ton of space along the backside of Fantasyland, they could easily expand it.
