Re: Inside Toy Story Midway Mania - Pictures

Another thing... Where is the point in which guests become "toy size"? The Pixar Studios is life-size, but there are huge toys on the building -- how are they so big? And then we enter the queue and we become toy size? Or have all the toys become human-size?

I'm confused. All-in-all, a terrible thematic disaster... but hey -- it's cute, right? Who cares about good theming -- as long as it looks good (see: Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Pirate's Lair, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, etc).

Wow! I didnt think it would turn out that good! Yeah! I cant wait to ride! Even though by the time I go back to WDW, they'll probbaly have like 6 new rides or shows!

Fine, enjoy your boring queue line....ooh, a pretty Victorian building. This totally makes up for no shade and nothing to look at...

I'm glad the two are presented differently. Both appear to have aspects that are better and worse. The ride itself is reportedly identical, so the main difference is the queue and outside.

I like the victorian, formal look of DCA's, mainly because of the enormous difference it is making in giving Paradise Pier a more detailed look and sense of place. The line itself though is very sparse, likely because of space constraints on the pre-existing boardwalk area of the park.

DHS has a very nice outside too that really gives that area of the park a new sense of place and appearance compared to the prior sterile soundstage appearance it had before. I am very exicted to see an INDOOR queue for Florida given how hot and humid it can get. The extra indoor themeing is excellent in terms of making it seem like you've stepped into the world of Toys. I like how it appears they've made a roof for the queue using gameboards (checkers stands out in one pic) held up by "Build a blocks". I particularly like this picture of the load station:
http://orlandounited.com/news/images/ToyStory/tsm25.jpg which gives the sense of scale and detail from the moment you board the vehicles that you are the size of a toy (the enlarged receptacle on the right, chair-rail and tinker toys to hold up the large lights) which are missing in the DCA set-up. Excited to see it in person next week!

I can't wait to get to go on this ride. I think it looks pretty good and better than some stuff they have been creating recenlty. I will be in WDW from May 18th - 31st so only a few more weeks until I get down there and see it in person.

Wow it looks totally awesome in those pictures! I think some people are being wayyyy too critical with the theming. Ultimately does it really matter if the whole "getting small" isn't explain in full blown detail really make the queue bad? Compared to recent queues of new rides at WDW, I think they hit a home run with this one! Have fun, enjoy life, I look forward to riding TSMM at either DCA or DHS this summer!

Finally, someone who makes sense. People are delusional if they defend DCA's yawn-worthy queue just because "well, it makes sense theme-wise"! Sometimes, it's good to think outside the box in regards to theming...

There's nothing to defend at DCA. It's a beautiful victorian building. Sure there's no toys in the queue but that's perfectly okay. Sunny weather in CA is always going to be better than sunny weather in Florida. Always.

Thinking outside of the box for theming is good when you have a box to work with. In florida's, there is no box. You have pixar studios, you have a brick building covered with toys, you have a queue filled with toys, then you have a ride that goes through a midway underneath Andy's bed. Where is the one single cohesive thought that ties it all together? Are we in Pixar studios or are we in Andy's room? Where do we go from point A to point B?

I mean... yeah, it's fun to see oversized toys but that's an absolute mess. With the Magic Kingdom, illusions and fantasies are blurred and we are transported to other worlds to help fill in the break in story. We don't care that in one land you can go to the 100 acre wood and then Neverland right after. With DHS, they need to do a better job transitioning you into the environment that you are going to experience.

Your being WAY to hypocritical about DCA's queue.

How are you supposed to suspend disbelief and believe in the experience if none of it makes any sense?

Oh, wait. It's at a "movie studio" -- believability and suspension of disbelief are non-issues there.

Now I remember why I don't read any threads about the parks anymore. And why I keep my opinions to myself.
