Summer's Toy Story MM Review - Pic Heavy with Spoilers

Taking full advantage of the AP Preview they have this weekend, a group of Micechatters met up to experience the new attraction, "Toy Story Midway Mania."

Should you wish to see all the photos I took that day, please visit HERE.

We are greeted by a Pixarlated entryway and ushered to the back of the line.

The end of the line was here...

and wrapped all the way into the building up here...

    The New Fastpass machines..

The monkeys having a "barrel" of fun on the buildings, I thought the outside of the attraction just added to the theming that flowed throughout from beginning to end. As we were waiting I was thinking if the inside looks as good as the outside, then we were in for a real treat! I wasn't disappointed.

As we entered the front doors we realize that we are in Andy's room.

    And we become the toys...

Giant game pieces and retro cool board games greet us through out the queue. Highly thought out and definitely invested in, I believe that they created what "my" definition of a "Disney" queue should be.

Note the candy land spaces on the floor.

    My space!

A View finder showcasing the story of Peter Pan.

And a nod to Disneyland's Tomorrowland, also present.

    More game pieces..

Probably my favorite portion of the queue was the board game ceilings.

    We had Chutes and Ladders.

    Scrabble and Checkers.

And then of course we have the Mr. Potatohead animatronic. We couldn't get over the amazing ability he had to remove his ear and then put it back in. The coordination for that must have been extremely difficult!

As you round the corner, you then take your 3D glasses out of a giant Lincoln logs house and proceed into this circus tented staircase. For those that can't climb the stairs, all you have to do is ask a CM and they will send you to the handicap access line.

You walk out into loading area and can see the action happening from above.

    The ride cars..

    Inside the attraction..

Your score keeper, you are up against the person sitting next to you and it tally's your score up for each round of game play.

The shooting galleries where so much fun, while wearing your 3D glasses, they did an excellent job of meshing the cannons with what you see on the screen. If you popped a balloon on a cloud for instance, it would shower you with water, if you landed a ring on a rocket, you would feel that rocket whizzing past you. There really wasn't anything I could find that I didn't like about this ride and it was just plain FUN.

For our second trip around, we waited 20 minutes and asked to bypass the stairs (my knees don't like them) and we went through the handicap isle. What I like about this is they have a completely different section that doesn't interrupt the flow of the main thoroughfare and it gives everyone plenty of time to board their ride car. They have a car especially made so if you can't leave your wheelchair, you can still ride the attraction. They really thought this through and did a wonderful job with accommodating everyone.

After experiencing this attraction I must say I was throughly impressed from beginning to end, from the theming to the interactive fun of the ride itself, I believe they did an excellent job of creating an attraction that will continue to impress families for years to come.

Denise, we were in line an average of 90 mins.

Nice report Summer. I was not particularly impressed with the queue as much as you were (you said it was "what a Disney queue should be"), but maybe that is because I am used to the much more realistic queues built at DLp and TDS. Also, I made the huge mistake of choosing the Single Rider line.. which was simply a boring wall of colors and not much else.. so I will have to go and do the regular line to see what you saw and showed on your pictures. I may change my opinion on this later on.

    1st Ride: 1 1/2 hours
    2nd Ride: 20 minutes

The second time it was at the end of the day and we got in within the last half hour so I would recommend going during that time.

Summer - I figured it'd be a much shorter line by the end of the day. AP events are often packed, so I stayed away (fortunately I was able to already go, and our wait was 5 or less minutes each time).

TDL - I didn't get your message until much later in the day, I'm sorry about that!

I didn't end up going - I don't like AP events too much (especially on weekends). It looked like SO much fun with everyone getting together though, I will make the next meet. Glad BPF helped out!

Yes, it was fun and like yourself.. I always expect the worst for these AP previews... but it was fun nonetheless.. and Summer only posted the PG rated photos... You missed the good old but-nekid group jump into the Seven Seas Lagoon at the end of the day..and other more interestiung happenings we can't discuss here.. and your fudge was greatly missed as well.

    Hehehe...

You've already discussed our deep discussion about "jerking," what else do you need?

The On-Ride Videos just do not give this ride justice. Or, so I have heard.
Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." -Walt Disney

ORDDU: Very true, AlwaysImagineer, duckling! It's sort of like a kiss. It's one thing to watch others kiss when you conjur up various romantic scenes within your crystal balls. It's quite another thing to do the actual kissing yourself while you're being kissed back.

ORGOCH: Always gotta' bring things down ta YER smutty level, don'tcha witch?!?!
