When is the best time to visit WDW?

    Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about going to WDW for the first time and I wanted to know what was the best time of year to go?
My family and I really want to go when the temperature is on the cooler side (well for Florida standards) and not packed (we don't mind some crowds).

    Thanks everyone!

The first week in December is great and Feb is good too. Our last 3 trips were in late Jan, mid November and last week. Last week was way too hot and crowded. I liked Jan the best of those three trips

Just after Thanksgiving into the 1st week of December and then right after the first of the year up until February school vacations start. Those times would fulfill all your requirements.

I agree with the others. Plus the 1st week in September all the Christmas decorations are up so it is just beautiful. Weather is usally great. Cool in the mornings and evenings, warm but not hot in the afternoon.

That is what I'd go with. Either right before Thanksgiving, or right after. Often, the first week of December is pretty busy at the resorts.

I also like late September - though it is much warmer, for the Food and Wine Festival and low crowds.

February was less crowded, but it was pretty cool. It might have been unseasonably cold when we were there, but we froze our butts off a couple of nights. And we're from Missouri, where it gets pretty darn cold. It was nice to avoid the crowds, but I think I just prefer the warmer temps of May or June.

Believe me. I was there last week and it was packed. Way too crowded. With the american dollar being worth nothing internationally, there were many europeans, asians, and south americans flooding the parks.

Yeah, I noticed last year when we went in June that Pop was filled with mostly British tourists. When we went in Feb, that year, we saw a lot of German tourists. It's interesting to see who goes to the parks and when.

I live here. Hurricanes generally are not an issue (hurricane season is July - November). 2004 was an exception, but we are inland and usually fairly safe.

Worst weather has been in winter, with tornadoes and such.

I agree with the times stated. The general rule is that when kids are out of school the parks are busier. Also keep in mind seasonal events that can make the park busier, such as events that draw people in around Halloween or SuperSoap weekend in mid-November. Other than that, it's an easy model to follow. Feel free to run some dates as you plan your trip and we can help you look for any potential problems as I know Karla encountered with the Pop Warner convention.

Re: When is the best time to visit WDW?

    Hi,

There are two times of year my wife and I like to go, Mid September or during the 1st two weeks of December.

In September the crowds are light and the Dining plan is often included. The temperature is on the warm side, but not bad at all. The only negative is September is one of the busy hurricane months so you have to think of that. We've been to WDW in September several times and not had any issue with hurricanes.

The nice thing about going in early December is the parks are decked out for the holidays. The temperatures are very mild, even a little chilly from time to time but nothing a sweatshirt and like jacket can't handle. The crowds are lower.

When ever you go, you are going to have a great time.

    John

this year in december is pop warner ( can you say thousands of cheer leaders? ) , mouse fest and if you want to spend time in the magic kingdom, and not pay to get in all over again then do not go during mickeys very merry christmas. that can add up with a family. I chose to skip this time of year and go in November.
