Kingdom Tower now Bay Lake Tower?

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney appears to have changed the Kingdom Tower to the Bay Lake Tower. Speculation is because it sounded too much like Kingdom Hall from Jehovah's Witness. I never put together that connection, but I guess I could see where other people might.

I'm just wondering why they didn't name it the Villas at the Contemporary Resort like they've done at all the other DVC "additions"?

Anyways, here's the article: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/bus...s-bay-lak.html

edit: IF they add a DVC tower on the South side, I wonder what they'd call that?

Re: Kingdom Tower now Bay Lake Tower?

I actually prefer Bay Lake Tower but even that could be confusing if they don't add something to it. Bay Lake Tower at The Contemporary Resort perhaps or as you said, Villas at The Contemporary Resort would be even better.
Hang on ... how about Bay Lake Tower Villas at The Contemporary Resort! Now there's a mouthful.
Anyway, I know that the Animal Kingdom Villas are going to be called 'Kidani Village' so maybe they are moving away from the Villas thing to give each their own unique character.

The Animal Kingdom Villas (AKV) are still called that. Kidani Village is just a section of AKV along with the Jambo House component. It's like SSR with Congress Park, The Springs, Grandstand, etc.

I saw the DVC channel program on it. I must say it looks amazing. I expected a Wilderness Lodge type of Villa, just a wing to the resort. But the Villas at AKL are a seperate building away from the others across the savannahs. I believe its getting its own restaurant

Re: Kingdom Tower now Bay Lake Tower?

I always felt, with the name Kingdom Tower, people would expect something themey and almost cartoonish. With the new name, it sets the tone for something more elegant and classy, which, due to the price tag I am sure these will come with, is much more appropriate.

I like the name change. If they decide to do a tower on the South side, it could be called Seven Seas Lagoon Tower.

Re: Kingdom Tower now Bay Lake Tower?

I honestly don't care what they name it as long as we have a DVC resort within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom. If history repeats itself, the actual name will end up being the Contemporary Villas.

Re: Kingdom Tower now Bay Lake Tower?

I was just thinking that it's not mentioned anywhere that the Kingdom Tower Condo Association was abolished. So, maybe they already have named a potential South tower? Maybe the North tower is the Kingdom Tower and the South tower is the Bay Lake Tower?

I'm just speculating since a South tower is all unsubstantiated at this point.

Something sure, they can't call it the Complimentary Tower...

Sorry... won't do it again...

Thanks for the insight, I wasn't aware but that makes much more sense

Re: Kingdom Tower now Bay Lake Tower?

I like the new name a lot better. With the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and the rumored Night Kingdom, the removal of "Kingdom" makes it sound more unique, even if the building itself will be an eyesore.
