5/17 AKL Villa Construction Photos and More by Denise

I was meeting up with some Micechatters in the afternoon but got to Disney early to take pictures.

I started out parking at Downtown Disney, to see if I could get any photos of the treehouse construction demolition. I heard it, but nothing was visible on the path that leads to OKW yet. I was too early to take a boat!




You can see one of the treehouses here, but no work done on it yet:





I then went to the Animal Kingdom Lodge to get photos of the construction there:







I took some more photos around the Flower and Garden Festival:












I met up with BPF, Summer, her daughter, and a couple of others MCers. I'm not sure who all is okay to post photos of, so I'll just post Summer and Christina:








Then BPF and I went through Epcot, on Soarin and into the Doll and Teddy Bear show at Mil Vil for a bit.







I also went on SSE to take pics of the missing musicians. (also newspaper boy is missing, but that was last update!)

The lobby (I assume) of the AKL addition looks pretty sweet just from the structure alone. It always amazes me the custom steelwork Disney has done on their buildings. I love it.

I can't wait to see how the treehouses progress. Deep down I hope they're not DVC so they'll be more available for booking as a hotel room. But, we shall see. I'm more curious to see what their architecture is going to be.

I think I speak for all Disney geeks in thanking you for the yeoman's effort with the pics.

Braving a long commute and $4 a gallon gas 3-4 times a week (more?)to make sure we're all up to date with WDW goings-on.

Great pictures as always Denise. I especially loved looking at the SSE pictures on Mousesteps. I haven't been on that attraction in a long time and the refurb definitely has me intrigued. I hope to get back there in Sept or October this year. Thanks again!!!

Thanks! Hopefully you will enjoy the refurb - I don't like the second half nearly as much as before, but overall I still very much enjoy the attraction.

And for the record - I don't have the time or gas money to go 3 or 4 times a week. This week, I plan on once (sandwiched in between a morning and evening volunteer shift).

SS isn't as popular for booking through DVC as other resorts are - I think the treehouses will be good for those playing golf, just as the old treehouses were (very popular with golfers). I would love to stay in a new one, I enjoyed the old villas and treehouses very much.

Hey Girl! Glad you got the shots of the Cinderella doll. That dollmaker (can't remember his name!) has always been one of my favorites. He always captures such beautiful expressions on those felt faces.

Hey lady! Was nice seeing you for a few moments anyway. Nice photo of me with my sinus infection full out. LOL Today I have no voice, thank god my typing fingers are still with me.

Gorgeous pics, I saw a short clip on the AKLV's on the TV in our room and what they are planning sounds absolutely wonderful. I can't wait for that completion.

We did a drive by past the entrance to the Treehouses, it had a big sign that said "Construction Vehicles Only" so lots of action was happening in there!
