Re: Disney vs. Universal head to head competition

    1. Splash Mountain vs. Dudlye Doo Rights Ripsaw Falls
To me Universal wins this one hands down. Splash Mountain bores me.

    2. Philharmagic vs. Shrek 4D
Philharmagic is so much better than that dreadfully awful Shrek 4D that its not even a comparison.

    3. Buzz Light Year (or Toy Story Mania) vs. Men In Black
I haven't ridden TSM yet, so I can't compare that one, but Men In Black is one of the best shooting rides I have ever seen.

    4. Star Tours vs. The Simpson's Ride
If Star Tours II ever comes it might win, but with as great as I think The Simpson's Ride is I have to give it to Universal here.

    5. Indiana Jones Stunt Show vs. Sinbad's 8th Voyage
Out of all the times I've been to Universal this is the one thing I have never stopped to see. But I love the Indy stunt show. Unfortunately I can't compare due to never seeing Sindbad.

    6. Space Moutain vs. The Mummy
The Mummy is amazing. As much nostalgia as I have for Space Mountain it can't even hold a candle to the Mummy. Maybe that will change after the refurb.

    7. Dinosaur vs. Spiderman
Never liked Dinosaur so its Spiderman all the way here.

    8. Winnie the Pooh vs. Cat in the Hat
I give this one a tie.

    9. Lights Action Motors vs. Fear Factor Live
Fear Factor is awful, so its Lights Motors Action for me. I don't understand why this show gets so much hatred, aside from the cattle herding and sitting in the sun, the show itself was great.

    10. Pirates of the Caribbean vs. Jurrassic Park
These two are such different rides that its hard to compare, but I have to go with Pirates here.

So my final tally is Universal 5, Disney 4 with one tie based on this poll.

YAY KCNole! Fun reasons for why you lik each one! But you really should give Sinbad's a chance. But when you go, just imagine that you are a 8-12 year old boy again, that way it will be fun!

Now that I think about it, Splash Mountain should be compared to Jurassic Park. They both have the same big show elements. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Re: Disney vs. Universal head to head competition

    Here's my breakdown:

    1. Splash Mountain vs. Dudlye Doo Righs Ripsaw Falls

Ripsaw Falls - A very long, and complex inside queue. Yes, you get very wet, but it's a better ride for it's use of ups and downs, and inside queue. Minor points lost for the pay-and-spray water cannons near unload.

    2. Philharmagic vs. Shrek 4D
Philharmagic - For the repeat factor alone. While I loved Shrek 4D, you can't really do it multiple times, but it's funny. However, Philharmagic wins for the mega-widescreen aspect alone. Points for Shrek 4D's attraction posters.

    3. Buzz Light Year (or Toy Story Mania) vs. Men In Black

MIB - You've got a elevator pre-show, and a huge dark ride. I have not been on TSMM yet, so I can't judge that one. However, WDW's Buzz sucks.

    4. Star Tours vs. The Simpson's Ride
Star Tours - Enclosed cabin, and special effects inside the cabin. Plus, a detailed preshow and queue.

    5. Indiana Jones Stunt Show vs. Sinbad's 8th Voyage

Sinbad - Cut the 'Cut!' crap from IJ, and IJ would be the winner.

    6. Space Mountain vs. The Mummy
Space Mountain - Mummy in Hollywood is too short, and the FL version acknowledges itself as a ride (I hate self-aware attractions).

    7. Dinosaur vs. Spiderman
Spiderman - Fun, and has sets WITH 3-d usage. Great attraction. While I love Hodges in Dinosaur, it's just an Indy ripoff.

    8. Winnie the Pooh vs. Cat in the Hat
Cat in the Hat - You're car flips around, and it seems like it lasts forever! Great dark ride.

    9. Lights Action Motors vs. Fear Factor Live
Lights, Action, Motors! - While I still dispise the whole 'we're filming a MOVIE' angle, I do like the effects. FFL is just people doing stupid stuff.

    10. Pirates of the Caribbean vs. Jurrassic Park
Pirates - Sorry, JP can't beat this classic attraction. While I do love CA JP, it's still too long in the lift, and too wet.

Re: Disney vs. Universal head to head competition

    1. Splash Mountain vs. Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls
The show on Splash Mountain is much better - but Ripsaw Falls is quite fun if you're looking specifically to ride a water ride. As I can ride Splash mountain even when my goal isn't to see if I can soak my jeans, the edge is to Splash.

    2. Philharmagic vs. Shrek 4D
Philharmagic has classic characters and a good replay value. Shrek - once you've seen in once, the 'oh dear, aren't we clever' jokes get old.

    3. Buzz Light Year (or Toy Story Mania) vs. Men In Black
I haven't ridden TSM, so no idea there. I can pick UP the guns in MiB, so that wins hands down.

    4. Star Tours vs. The Simpson's Ride
Back to the Future was better than Star Tours. The Simpsons is certainly better.

    5. Indiana Jones Stunt Show vs. Sinbad's 8th Voyage
Tie. They're both entertaining things to do when the lines are too long other places.

    6. Space Mountain vs. The Mummy
Mummy, hands down. Space is a classic, but it is in major need of TLC. Once it's refurbed, well, this vote may change.

    7. Dinosaur vs. Spiderman
Spiderman is still the gold standard for these sorts of rides.

    8. Winnie the Pooh vs. Cat in the Hat
Every time I go on Cat in the Hat, it goes offline for at least 5 minutes while I'm on the ride. Right now, tie because both are wheelchair friendly.

    9. Lights Action Motors vs. Fear Factor Live
Never seen either one. Cars going vroom and people eating bugs have no appeal to me.

    10. Pirates of the Caribbean vs. Jurassic Park
Dear ride creators: "OH NO, WE'RE ON THE WRONG TRACK" is a tired concept. Please retire it for something else, at least for a while. I like Jurassic Park, but I've seen the same old 'things are great until OH NO' ride before. Pirates wins.

Re: Disney vs. Universal head to head competition

    1. Splash Mountain vs. Dudlye Doo Righs Ripsaw Falls
Splash Mountain, Ripsaw Falls is kind of cheaply built.

    2. Philharmagic vs. Shrek 4D
    Philharmagic, hands down

    3. Buzz Light Year (or Toy Story Mania) vs. Men In Black
I like MIB better than Buzz, but Toy Story Mania wins for me

    4. Star Tours vs. The Simpson's Ride
Star Tours, but not by much... when Star Tous 2.0 finnaly comes, then it will win by alot.

    5. Indiana Jones Stunt Show vs. Sinbad's 8th Voyage
    Indy, has more action

    6. Space Moutain vs. The Mummy
right now The Mummy, but when Space Mt. gets that well needed refurb, it will win

    7. Dinosaur vs. Spiderman
Dinosaur, it is no where near Indy Adventure. But is better than Spiderman.

    8. Winnie the Pooh vs. Cat in the Hat
Pooh! Cat in the Hat is terrible

    9. Lights Action Motors vs. Fear Factor Live
    never seen either

    10. Pirates of the Caribbean vs. Jurrassic Park
Pirates, by far. Jurrassic Park is more "extreme", but has a terrible storyline. Pirates is/will always be my favorite attraction in the world, even if it is smaller than DL's.

Re: Disney vs. Universal head to head competition

    1. Splash Mountain vs. Dudlye Doo Righs Ripsaw Falls
Splash, all of the way. Now Dudley is an okay attraction but not as well themed as Splash. I know that Universal was going for Jay Ward's cheap animation look with the static figures but nothing can compare to AA figures.

    2. Philharmagic vs. Shrek 4D
Philharmagic. I can get more repeated viewing out of this than Shrek 4D but Shrek does have the better preshow. Who want a flogging or a yogurt? Plus Shrek 4-D has been on DVD for a while in two packs of Shrek one and Shrek two.

    3. Buzz Light Year (or Toy Story Mania) vs. Men In Black
I have not rode TSM yet but I like MIB, out of the them at the most. MIB is more detailed and you feel like you are more a part of the experience here. Buzz, I feel like I am in Dreamflight sometimes. lol.

    4. Star Tours vs. The Simpson's Ride
Well I have rode Simpsons yet, so Star Tours for the most.

    5. Indiana Jones Stunt Show vs. Sinbad's 8th Voyage.
I was not impressed with Sinbad back in 2006, So I am going for Indy. Who could forgot Kermit's memoral appearnce in the Stunt Show? lol " I don't believe in Violence, I don't believe in Violence". " You guys okay?" "I better not tell Big Bird about it." lol

    6. Space Moutain vs. The Mummy
Space. Mummy is good but confusing with the story and theming. Plus why does Brandon Fraiser want the coffee so badly. I never understood that.

    7. Dinosaur vs. Spiderman
    Spidey.

    8. Winnie the Pooh vs. Cat in the Hat
    Cat in the Hat.

    9. Lights Action Motors vs. Fear Factor Live
    LAM. FFL stinks.
    10. Pirates of the Caribbean vs. Jurrassic Park Hmm. Tie but I would put Pirates higher.

Actually, I think leaving ToT off is fine because the rides are quite different (what with Tower actually accelerating you downward and all.

I think Expedition Everest is a better match for Mummy, personally.

That is also a great comparison.

If I had to choose... hmmm

ET's preshow and queue is really awesome, but nothing beats the flying over London scene in my opinion.

Whenever I fly over the Valley in ET i always feel like I am in just in a giant room.

So that being said, if there was no wait on either attraction I would choose Peter Pan.

If there was a half hour + wait for both I would choose ET.

Re: Disney vs. Universal head to head competition

I'd have to say ET. The queue is hands down one of the best queues I've ever been in, even to this day. There are only two drawbacks to this ride, the static mannequin cops and the weird ending with ET's weird friends. However, ET still beats Pan because I can actually ride it, I have never seen Pan without a 60 minute wait at least. Sorry, I'm not waiting 60 minutes for that kind of ride.
