Using WDW Google Earth easy or hard?

Would you say that using the new Walt Disney World Google Earth is fairly easy or hard? My initial thought is hard, but after about 15 minutes of testing things out it was more manageable.

It's not too bad. You just have to get used to it and then you can go all over...

Its easy, its just like every other 3D area on google earth, except slightly more detailed. For some reason though, whenever I try and see the 3D Disney World, my internet looses its connection and I have restart me comp. It's weird.

I got tired of seeing all the pop ups, or thumb tacks or what ever there called. I did not see how it was like the web site above. it was confusing and a pain to me.

In terms of use, I put it on the average side. But it is kind of cool

My iMac is less than one year old and does have a hard time browing 3D WDW. After using it, I usually have to restart to make sure it restores its memory.

So I don't usually browse for hours, but it's still pretty damn cool !

I tried the 3D Walt Disney World, and while it was cool, it took forever to load all the 3D textures in (like with all the 3D Worlds). I looked around for about ten minutes before quitting. It was easy to do, just incredibly slow. (And I have a fairly fast connection with high RAM.)

Re: Using WDW Google Earth easy or hard?

My Brother in Law who was a technician for IBM before retiring can't make it work and neither can I. We both have the latest versions of Google Earth and the Warehouse with all the disney stuff checked but when we click on See WDW in 3-D nothing changes, just the same flat photo based ground. No buildings or rides or whatever you are supposed to see. I click on the gold Mickey and all that does is make more thumbtacks and camera's appear. So I rate in Hard and doesn't really work at all for some.

Definitely not easy. I can get it to a point but it takes awhile to refresh the screens and some don't appear at all. I periodically get messages that Google Earth has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I have a fast reliable connection and a fairly high end computer so I have no idea why it isn't better.

    Updated to Google Earth
    4.3.7204.0836 (beta)

Zoomed on on WDW, clicked on the golden mickey, clicked on the 3D-link in the pop-up block. Good to go.

No speed issues, easy to scroll around on a three year old PC and a meh Internet connection.

But I never worked for IBM so that might help....

    Per your post:
I have an older version of Google Earth but just found this (below) and the update may solve my problem - thanks for the heads up

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Incremental Update to Google Earth 4.3.7204.0836 (beta)

Google has released an update to the 4.3 beta released two weeks ago which fixes some bugs (no new features that I see). This is still a beta version, so Google probably has more things they plan to fix before finalizing 4.3. You can download it through the Google Earth Download page, or if you haven't downloaded 4.3 before, you can use GEB's download Google Earth page. Thanks to Frederic for the tip that this was now available.

Here are some of the things they fixed in this incremental release (still waiting for official release notes):
    • MAC only- Whenever balloon has enough text to require a vertical scroll bar, the horizontal scroll bar shows up as well. Even though the horizontal text are not wide enough.
    • Bottom margin of balloon is too big.
    • Balloons sometime do not render image when clicked repeatedly.
    • Sometime balloon does not open in Vista machine.
    • "to here"/"from here" does not work in newly created placemark.
    • Navigation from camera views (above horizon) is broken.
    • Crash at exiting sky mode.
By the way, if you are looking to report a problem you're having with GE 4.3, or you want to go back to GE 4.2, read this excellent post at the GE Community by 'Noisette'. Or just go to the Google Earth support forum.

I can't get it to work either. I click on the button that says view in 3d or whatever it says and nothing ever happens. They need a bit better support for this.

What version of Google Earth are you using?

Assuming it is current. Clicking on "3d Buildings" does not do the trick (err, I don't think...) Zoom in on WDW and look for the golden mickey, click on that. That should bring up a window with a "view in 3d" option.
