Paul Comstock's DAK Concept and New Job

One of a couple of landscape genuises behind DAK, Paul Comstock has moved on to other pastures. Found this piece of concept art- his plan for the plantlife for Animal Kingdom. Sounds dull, but its not! www.insightsandsounds.blogspot.com
Forgot to mention there is also alot of photos from his work all over the world at his new site.

Re: Paul Comstock's DAK Concept and New Job

Wow! Great Find! AK is my favorite park and that Paul Comstock layout gives a lot of fascinating insight into its development. It appears to be a legitimate park plan, and looks further along than the famous concept painting, but not quite final.

    Some points of interest
    1. The longer, larger, slow-moving Asian Boat Safari (to have featured Asian elephants, orangutans, leopards, etc.) appears to be intact.

    2. The straight canal north of Kilimanjaro Safaris was to have been disguised as a winding African river with a large savanna beyond it. This would have made for very impressive vistas.

    3. Africa seems to have some kind of short boat ride (connected to Discovery River)

    4. The Wildlife Express train winds through the Asian Safari

    5. Conservation Station is built within the train track loop and it appears there were Kilimanjaro Safari Overlook Huts that you could walk to.

    6. There is a large pathway/queue/attraction/Cretaceous Trail behind Countdown to Extinction

    7. The maze Quest for the Unicorn appears to be at far left of Beastly Kingdomme (which is labeled), but the Dragon Tower rollercoaster and the Fantasia Gardens boat ride appear to be absent.

The layout is great. Wish I could find I higher-res version.

Nice stuff. The asian boat ride is cool. I would love an Amazon journey in an Americas Land. Lots of colorful birds, reptiles and monkeys in a great big green house
