Disney's River Country SECRET!

Here is an outdated website for Disney Canada! But here's the best part: It's for Disney's River Country Water Park! This is a true find because you can download a Map of the original park!
Remember River Country closed in 2001.

http://www.disney.ca/vacations/disneyworld/II/D/2/

Enjoy!

Nifty find, can't believe the website is still up!

I know I went there in either 1993 or 1990ish, I have the keychain to prove it, but I really don't remember it at all.

Really, cool. I've always wanted to go there! I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge once and you can see the old structures when you take the boat from the lodge to the MK.

Re: Disney's River Country SECRET!

I think I went there about 25 years ago. We were staying at Fort Wilderness and went for the day. I remember my mother bribing me with a dollar to go on one of the slides.

The White Water Rapids hurt when you fell off the tube. It was fun, but man that concrete was rough on the skin.

I still miss the park though.

Re: Disney's River Country SECRET!

I was lucky enough to have a father who was in the media in central Florida back in the 70s and 80s. Can't remember exactly when it was, but my family was lucky enough to enjoy River Country before most had a chance during a special media day. It was a load of fun and we went back several times over the years. Still in all, River Country looked old really quick, that is, once Wet n Wild opened up just down the road. The newer water parks at Disney are miles ahead of what River Country was. Remember how much that sand hurt your feet? Ouch! Still the best flumes around though.

Re: Disney's River Country SECRET!

Wow...thanks for the link! My family and I still talk about this "ol' swimmin' hole"! I actually just passed this a couple weeks ago while visiting Fort Wilderness Campground. It was kinda sad....the area was still there but it was so overgrown. Brought back memories of me and my family going there. My dad and I used to go on White Water Rapids over and over again while my mom was with my sister in Bay Cove and Kiddie Cove.

Re: Disney's River Country SECRET!

I know I deff miss River Country, and Discovery Island! I remember from my first trip to WDW as a wee little lad, Discovery Island was my favorite part, because it was sooo secluded, and it kind of felt like a special secret! River country was so quaint, compared to TL and BB. Deff had a completly different feel.

Re: Disney's River Country SECRET!

The White Water Rapids is still the best flume I have ever been on. I remember riding it over and over and over again. I also remember going on the short plunge slides over the swimming pool. I was a bit scared because at the top they looked so high but in reality it was only a 10 foot plunge.

Re: Disney's River Country SECRET!

Very cool! I still have a memory of taking the cable line down and thinking of how high I was off the ground. I was so scared going down that I just couldn't let go and I hit the end portion and it shook me off. I never laughed so hard in my life.

Great find, thanks for sharing.
