What is the best sight seeing area?

So what area of the resort is just stunning? Just beautiful and relaxing without needing to go into an atrraction. Perhaps a good people watching area.

I love Fort Wilderness - in many areas, including the rocking chairs outside of Crockets Tavern/Trails End. The beach area is lovely too.

The Boardwalk is also a great place to go. There are so many more as well - the Polynesian beach, the Grand Floridian - I love walking around the Caribbean Beach Resort. Lots of beauty around the resort area!

World Showcase - it's great to just walk around the lagoon and people watch.

(You'll be ok skipping Maelstrom and Gran Fiesta Tour)

For some reason, I was thinking the OP didn't want to go into the parks. I agree with WS, that is my favorite place in any park!

Any of the MK resorts. Walking between the Poly and GF and sitting on the beach.

I love walking from WL to FW and back, although a little less since the lawyers closed the petting zoo. That whole area on Bay Lake is peaceful and beautiful.

And a walk around the EPCOT Resorts is fun too.

Or just hanging out at DAK Lodge and watching the animals.

And there are many more ...

Some guests actually do spend most time outside parks (I mistook the attractions for parks).

I love the atmostphere at the Polynesian. In the afternoon, you can grab a cool drink at The Barefoot Pool Bar and relax on the beach. Last time we were there, we saw a wedding being performed overlooking the Lagoon! In the evening, the resort is very romantic when all the tiki torches are lit. You can hang out on the beach or go to the end of the dock to watch the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom or the Electrical Water Pageant.

I love to spend time at the Grand Floridian. It's such a nice place and they sometimes have live music playing from the balcony.

Also, the Contemporary's Grand Canyon Concourse is a great place to watch people and the monorails glide by.

Re: What is the best sight seeing area?

People watching is my favorite thing to do at the parks. Some of my list is a good people watching spot but not overly relaxing, I'll try and list both.

    Magic Kingdom
Rocking chairs on Main Street (In front of the Kodak Picture Shop)
Upper level of the train station, looking down Main Street
Cosmic Rays - Outside patio facing the castle area.
Outside Pinocchio's Village Haus - Upstairs seating area
Pecos Bill - inside and the back seating area near Pirates; up the ramp
Noodle Station - People watching, good for fireworks too.

    Epcot
Canada - In the back, beautiful and very serene.
Upstairs seating area for Electric Umbrella (People watching)
Morocco - AC'd area off to the left as you walk in, never crowded, I find it relaxing.
Mexico - Anywhere inside, good for relaxation AND people watching.
    Japan - Garden seating area
Norway - Small seating area near the boat.
China - The shops have such beautiful things, also inside where the movie starts is pretty.
American Adventure - Inside the rotunda.

    DHS
Tower or Terror - There is a hidden seating area covered in bougainvillea that's very cool and relaxing.

    Animal Kingdom
The ENTIRE PARK! - save Dinoland

There is a covered seating area directly across from the Tusker House - it is shaded with built in misters. Cool AND relaxing!
The seating area behind the Flame Tree Barbecue, awesome views of Everest and the surrounding area.

In Frontierland there's a wooden walkway down by the water. I like to get a turkey leg and take up a bench on this walkway, and just enjoy the water and the birds and the boats cruising by.

The trail connecting Port Orleans to Dixie Landings (Now Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside)....one of the most serene and peaceful walks I take in WDW.

Wilderness Lodge. So many places to wander around, and even head into Fort Wilderness too!

Boardwalk and EPCOT Resorts....great for the hustle and bustle of people doing their thing.
    It's a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah...Tip for Today!

To go with the Rocking Chair idea that summerinfl had.....
There are rocking chairs outside the giftshop in Frontierland! I love to sit there and wait for the parade! I have met some very nice people sitting in those chairs!
