|  Save the Adventurers Club  Dear Fellow Adventurers, As we are all aware of, Disney is planning to close all of Pleasure Island on Sept. 27, 2008. While many would like to see Disney change their minds on the whole concept, there is a huge push to keep the Adventurers Club alive. Personally, I have found that The Adventurers Club has become a home away from home, where guests can become lifetime friends with other guests as well as the characters that roam it's hallowed halls. I'm sure that I am not the only one who feels this way, so I am including in this post links to TWO "Save the Adventurers Club" Petitions as well as the addresses to Upper Managers of The Walt Disney Company, to send physical letters to. Please inform everyone who loves Pleasure Island and the Adventurers Club of this post, to repost it to every Disney Fan Site, to sign the petitions and send letters to the company’s executives. Remember, while a stack of letters can be thrown away, it is not as easily dismissed as the pressing a delete button. Please, flood the Executives mailboxes (both physical and electronic), with multiple copies if need be. While many might believe that it is a fruitless effort, please remember that Disney is supposed to listen to its guests and if they receive enough comments they will eventually have to listen. I have been there three times and I know others have been more often, but it is a great experience! Hopefully it wil be relocated some place new? |

We need to write, in our very hand, directly to Disney executives--and then, we need to call them. On the "Save the Adventurers Club" radio show (http://blogtalkradio.com/savepi), we advocate the following: CALL Downtown Disney Vice President Kevin Lansberry (407-828-4591) and Barry Carlson, General Manager of Operations (407-934-6688). These numbers are their PERSONAL VOICEMAIL NUMBERS. Use this phone script or adapt for your own purposes: "Hello (Barry or Kevin), My name is (Your Name Here) and I am a patron of Pleasure Island/The Adventurers Club. I was calling to let you know while we appreciate the Disney Company's concern for building a better guest experience, I hope you will respectively re-consider the plans to close this Downtown Disney attraction. I am considering taking my business outside of Disney if this plan goes through. Thanks!" |

I just find it incredibly sad that a unique and popular place like the Adventurer's club is even considered to be shut down along with the rest f PI. This was probably the one and only "club" at PI that an entire family could go to together and have fun, we took my 8yr old daughter last trip for her first time there and she loved it, wanted to go back the next day and everything. The detail of the place for those who may have not visited before is amazing, with "artifacts" and "trophies" from all over the globe, the cast is always in character and fun to talk to outside the shows, and the shows are campy and just loads of fun... I hope they decide to preserve it in the upcoming remodel or at least relocate somewhere appropriate like AK or Adventureland, I think the old Adventureland veranda area would make for a great location for the show... AKL is already under construction for the DVC addition that would be a logical location as well, or even the outpost area at EPCOT Center, again only if it has to be moved. Until then my JerrensGal and I are putting together a vacation for us and a few friends to go down for one last Kongaloosh! Anyone who wants to join us let me know and we can set up a group rate.
