Best Princess Character Dining - Akershus or Cinderella's Royal Table?

If possible, I'd recommend you pay the extra $2 and go at lunch instead. The food then is actually better than many non-character meals, surprisingly enough. I haven't been to the breakfast but the food sounds like it's the same as any other early day character meal.
I like The Happiest Millionaire. What's wrong with that?
its called "pre-plated" is that the same as family style?
"Pre-plated" means they bring the food out to you already on a plate (like most normal restaurants). "Family style" means like if you were eating dinner at home... eggs on one plate, bacon on another, fruit on yet another... and you just take how big or little of a helping you need.
I ate there a few years ago, and I really liked it. I was by myself, so I did feel quite special. One of the princesses poses with you for a really fancy photo that you can buy. Then I had 4 different princesses come to my table. I enjoyed the food, it was plentiful, and delicious. I recommend it if you want to see the princesses. They spent a little time with me, as I had them sign my autograph hat that I was doing on that vacation.

Yes, they were very good about this.
I would lean towards calling this family style more than preplated. When we went they brought out a large plate of eggs and a large plate of sides that the whole table ate from (on our own plates of course!). There was also a small buffet where you could get fruit, lox, gjetost (yeach..), and a small pastries.
The breakfast was good, but I don't get very excited about breakfast food.
The logistics of it were all handled very smoothly by the CMs. The princess' did a great job of spending time with everyone and making sure they saw every table.
Norway is a must do for all our trips! We have done dinner and breakfast many times..Even though it is rare, we have seen Cinderella here at dinner! The food is okay! The first few times my dh and i couldn't get enough of the breakfast potatoes but then they did something to them and they are not the same. We have not been since the new dinner menu came out but I am sure it is okay. The character interaction is worth it!

I've done this with my niece and we both enjoyed it. I echo others' comments about how the food is done. The princesses varied in quality with some spending ample time with my niece and others just going through the motions and making a brief visit. Food was good 'nuff for being breakfast and the atmosphere was nice.

herring with sour cream or vinegar?
Pickled
Ah the memories of dragging a 25 pound pail of salted herring back from Nova Scotia for my grandfather so he could make his own pickled herring.
Beats a BigMac and fries any day.
Poaching from Wikipedia here. Sour cream sauce (with onions) is one of the "dozens of classic herring flavourings" in Scandinavia
Pickled herring is a delicacy popular in Europe and has become a basic part of Jewish cuisine. Most cured herring uses a two-step curing process. Initially, herring is cured with salt to extract water. The second stage involves removing the salt and adding flavorings, typically a vinegar, salt, sugar solution to which ingredients like peppercorn, bay leaves and raw onions are added.
In Scandinavia, once the pickling process is finished and depending on which of the dozens of classic herring flavourings (mustard, onion, garlic, lingonberries etc.) are selected, it is usually enjoyed with dark rye bread, crisp bread, or potatoes. This dish is a must at Christmas and Midsummer, where it is enjoyed with akvavit.

no offense, but I think I'll take a big mac
LOL
It's a vinegary fishy taste, The pickling also firms up the raw fish, so its nice and chewy. The raw onion just makes it all the better.
Mmmmmmmmmmm
I know lots of people who just cannot fathom how somone can eat it.
Sour Cream (with dill), Vinegar, and Mustard sauces - thats good eating !
