Re: Pocahontas & Her Forest Friends Closing Sept. 27th

What I'm curious about the most is the Date: Sept. 27th... The same day for the Adventure's club and all the PI clubs close their doors, is there some hidden significance to that date for WDW? Is it tied to accounting in some way like a end of quarter/half for WDW fiscal year?

From what I have read, I believe it's the last pay period of the fiscal year.

Wow! I remember seeing this when my little sister was in kindergarden. From what I remember, 10-years is a long time.

Camp Minnie-Mickey is a worse themed land than Dinoland U.S.A. when you think about it. I mean sure Dinoland has the awful Chester and Hester DinoRama thing but on the plus side at least the theming is well detailed and the area goes along with the Dinosaur theme.

But Camp Minnie-Mickey isnt even really a camp. It's a blah unthemed Disney character deposit zone. The Oasis isnt all that themed either but at least everything in the Oasis carries a unique color design allowing it to stand out from all the other areas of the park.

As far as losing Pocahontas though, one downside I see is that it is one less thing for younger kids to do at this park. You might think that's nothing but most of DAK's biggest attractions have a height requirement or are too scary for younger kids to attend (ex. It's Tough to be Bug 3D show). This makes DAK not so family-friendly compared to Magic Kingdom or Epcot or even DHS.

That probably stems from the fact that the area was only a temporary land to have more things to do when the park initially opened. It was supposed to be shut down after Asia opened. That was the spot the Beastly Kingdomme was designed for

Yes, & then Festival of the Lion King proved more popular than they thought it would be.

And that's why they expanded the bridge into Camp. (Explained in The Imagineer's Field Guide.)
