Re: What Disneyland attraction do you miss the most?

I don't have the childhood memories many of you have, growing up in and around the park. I wish I did, but time and distance mean that I've only been twice - once when I was 8, and then again when I was 26.

However, I have this incredibly strong memory of riding in the Subs with my parents. I don't think everybody got in, claiming claustrophobia, by I have this distinct memory of lining up along the docks and the sensation of going "underwater". As the years have gone by, I know exactly how it was all done - including the fact that we never actually submerged - but nothing will convince me (especially given that they are no longer there to contradict me) that I wasn't genuinely 20,000 leagues under the sea.

Thankfully, this is coming back in some form or another next year.

Re: What Disneyland attraction do you miss the most?

I miss the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough!!! That was my favorite thing to see when I was really little. It just gave me such a great feeling inside. I loved it! :0)

I also miss the Submarine Voyage. My favorite part was the Moray eels that popped out, and the mermaids! But I'm sure the Finding Nemo ride will be good...

I would like to mention that the People Mover might in fact return to Disneyland! When I was there in August, I talked to a security guard who had worked there for like 30 years. He told me that they are most likely coming back. :0) That would make me happy!

As for other things I miss, I miss the cabin on fire and the Fort on TSI! I know that it is all "politically incorrect" but it was just a classic thing at Disneyland! Whatever...

I do miss the Skyway and CBJ too...I unfortunately never saw the original CBJ, cuz I'm only 18, so I grew up with the Vacation Hoedown...but I have seen the CBJ at Disney World...

HOW COULD I FORGET THE SLEEPING BEAUTY CASTLE WALK-THRU?! I LOVED THAT!!! Although, in all honesty, I remember getting absolutely scared when I was a wee-one walking through it. LOL.

My favorite part of the sub voyage was the sea dragon and the sharks. Man, do I miss those days!

The two attractions I miss the most are Skyway and People Movers. I loved everything about the Skyway from the weaving line, to the rocking of the bucket when the CM pushed it off on it's way. I remember looking at the top of Toads roof. Of course the highlight of the trip was passing through the Matterhorn. The Skyway and PeopleMovers both gave you a chance to relax and enjoy Disneyland from a different view.

Re: What Disneyland attraction do you miss the most?

aaah, great memories, you guys! I too miss the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk through. I always liked going through it because nobody knew it was there! And it was also just fun to know that you were IN the castle!

And I'm glad somebody brought up the Rocket Jets... not to ride, but to LOOK at. That's part of my love affair of skyway and people mover. You can appreciate them even when not riding on them. I hope the rumors of the People Mover are true. Then the next time I see Cynthia Harriss, I can go "IN YOUR FACE!" (if you haven't heard the story, she told me in person that she doesn't think that ride ever has a chance of coming back)

Re: What Disneyland attraction do you miss the most?

It was in Yesterland that I discovered the Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland, and the Living Desert itself.

Years ago, when searching the net for info on Disneyland for an upcoming trip (my kids' first and my third), I stumbled across Yesterland and was totally absorbed by it. It had never occurred to me that there were any other attractions that had been removed aside from the only one I was concerned about, the Carousel of Progress (I'd visited that in 1969 as a kid, and loved it).

Upon discovering Nature's Wonderland, I started to feel a real wistfulness for a part of Disneyland that I could have potentially experienced but never did, and that I now miss terribly.

Anyway... I love that site and look forward to seeing more and more.

Speaking of Carousel of Progress, is it still at the Magic Kingdom in Florida?

Re: What Disneyland attraction do you miss the most?

America the Beautiful in Circlevision 360...

Space Myst...

Getting off at the Tomorrowland Skyway and taking a trip to the Hatter...

Peoplemover... The fact that the track still is sitting there unused drives me crazy... It is like I see technicolor ghosts pass by every so often...

Country Bears... Mile Long Bar...

I remember Captain Hooks ship as a kid in Fantasyland...

The original soundtrack to Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln... I played it on the record player hundreds of times... Loved reciting it verbatum along with it...

I miss the Golden Horseshoe Revue, The Mine Train, Adventure thru Inner space, the people mover, and Carousel of Progress. We lost a huge chunk of Frontierland as Big Thunder didn't require as much space. The rainbow caverns were really cool! I was a kid when I experienced these attractions and I'm glad I had the opportunity to do so. The latter generations have truly missed out!

Peoplemover - Just a nice slow ride through Tomorrowland. A nice way to get away from it all and relax.

Re: What Disneyland attraction do you miss the most?

Adventure Through Innerspace was great. I loved the working Epcot model during the attraction. It was also a great rest from walking all day.

I wish I could remember going through the House of the Future which my parents tell me we did.

Mostly I miss the original part of the Disneyland Hotel...especially the Garden Villa Rooms and the Monorail Cafel.
