Re: Extinct Attractions

I thought the Tiki Room was still going strong, albeit with better speakers.

Re: Extinct Attractions

A seriously shortened Tiki Room presentation is still going at WDW, but it's gone at Disneyland.

Re: Extinct Attractions

Sorry, am I missing something completely here?

I was under the impression the Tiki Room is still open.

Re: Extinct Attractions

Tiki Room still open at Disneyland.

I haven't been, but I hear the Tiki Room at Disney World seriously sux with the new changes.

So I am just not getting the whole "extinct" part of this event??

Tahitian Terrace - Now there's a good and proper EXTINCT attraction worthy of some special attention.

Re: Extinct Attractions

Oh Brother! I feel like we're all having a blond moment...

This is what I was talking about - it's an event celebrating Walt Disney's classic Tiki Room (which still operates daily at Disneyland). This is the info:

The Tiki Room Event is going to be held at the Holiday Inn:
1240 South West Ball
Anaheim Ca
714-535-0300
Located off Ball road about ½ mile from the Disneyland theme park.
Saturday March 31, 2007 from 1-4
and afterwards we are all going to the park to see the show
(Separate admission or use your annual pass)

* Live Band!! Voodoo will perform!!!
* Tickets are $30 each for non 1313 club members and $23 for club members. http://www.the-magic-makers.com/tiki.html
* Guess Speakers: Disney Legend Bob Gurr, Jeff Burke, Wally Boag
* Great appetizers and punch, with a cash bar
* Raffle Prize: Beautifully stained glass piece from well Known Disney artist David Bird!
* Rare Video clips to share with you!
* Raffle prizes: Original Tiki Art LE of 4 water color art from Richard Bird
* Plus we will have dozens of door prizes
* And Brian Sommer will be there announcing LIVE!!!!

I'm really looking forward to seeing Wally Boag and Bob Gurr in person. From what I understand, Shag will be there as well.

Let me repeat, this is an event (kind of like a party) not the actual Tiki Room. We all go over to Disneyland to see the Tiki Room when the event is over.

It was 2 years ago or so. That section was closed off and I was told the Tiki Room was taken out for something new they were putting in. I guess they told me something that was wrong... sorry, didn't mean to spout bad info.

Re: Extinct Attractions

No problem. It's just that if Disneyland's Tiki Room were threatened, there'd be riots!

I'm guessing when you were last there they were refurbing from a bad Pressler era...

Re: Extinct Attractions

I'm glad Dave O'Neal's hard work has gotten him notice within Disney. He's done a ton to help preserve the memories and essence of the extinct attractions of Disneyland, as well as help out the impoverished in the Anaheim area.
