However, I'm pretty sure the Big Thunder "engines" in use today don't actually provide power for the fast-moving trains (as a roller coaster, today's train is just powered by gravity). The old Mine Train, though, used a real engine that pulled the (much slower) trains for that ride. It sure does look like the new ones were based on the old design, though. Good eye! -Jon

I remember catching a glimpse of him in 2007, and recently just this July he was gone, the faux tree in place. My hope is that he is temporarily gone like the donkey and dog in POTC. Or maybe he's getting moved to Grizzly River Run!
