Secret tunnel from Tom Sawyer Island to Castle
There was a secret tunnel from the Fort on Tom Sawyer Island to Sleeping Beauty Castle. Back in the early 1960's, my friend and I got to use it as it was night and we missed the last raft. The soldiers unlocked a door on the north wall of the fort and we walked underground all the way to the Castle exiting by the Sleeping Beauty walk-thru. What was interesting was that this tunnel was just like the others on Tom Sawyer Island. That was way cool. I suppose the tunnel is still there but the Fort is closed now.
Been going to Disneyland for over 50 years. Walt Disney must have been one of the best people of the 20th century.

I gotta ask for more evidence. Yes, there was a "secret tunnel" from the Fort that led to another part of the island, but it was clearly labeled BatMan-style "Secret Tunnel".
Cast members, construction crew, Fantasmic cast, catering, have all long lamented the lack of a tunnel from the mainland which would make loading to the Island an easy task.
Re: Secret tunnel from Tom Sawyer Island to Castle
Not much of a 'secret' anymore, eh?;)

Hello, chuckles9999; welcome to MiceChat.
Alas, there is no such tunnel at Disneyland, and there never was.
There was a "secret tunnel" exit from the fort, but it was entirely on Tom Sawyer Island.
Re: Secret tunnel from Tom Sawyer Island to Castle
maybe they crawled through the water pipes that connect the ROA to the castle moat! ;)

I used to imagine wild stuff when I was high.
Re: Secret tunnel from Tom Sawyer Island to Castle
So, it was common to maroon the soldiers on the island in the 60s?
Re: Secret tunnel from Tom Sawyer Island to Castle
There are lots of rumors about several underground tunnels but I've never heard of a tunnel from the Island to the Castle. From what I gather they never built anything under the island. That seems like a fairly long distance for a tunnel too.
I do know of one "tunnel" that led under pirates and ended in a small lunchette but it did not reach as far as the island. It always smelled moldy!
Re: Secret tunnel from Tom Sawyer Island to Castle
Don't listen to any of these so called "experts" on tunnels at Disneyland. There are tunnels all over that place. Walt loved tunnels and used them to sneak around all the time. That's why you never knew where he was or when he was going to show up. So just remember, there are secret tunnels everywhere and those that know about them are just not talking.;)

Tongue planted firmly in cheek
Still in Lakeside looking for tunnels
Re: Secret tunnel from Tom Sawyer Island to Castle
There can't possibly be tunnels at Disneyland- it's a liabilty in earthquake regions.
