The Lots-o-huggin' Bear commercial was neat, but one thing gave it away; the kids' wardrobe. It's not really early 80s-ish clothes - more like early or mid 90s.

Watching the commercial, I wondered if it was a fake before you told us that it was. The little girl is holding a Jem & the Holograms lunchbox. I totally had that in school! But a competitor's lunchbox would not have been used in another commercial (as it wouldn't be, today). Then I scrolled onto the Get in Shape Girl commercial, and I remember those products. They should re-release those!

That commercial was really well done, it would've had me convinced if I didn't know it was contemporary from this article. It took me a few viewings to finally see it didn't have that intangible genuine cheesiness that makes 1980's commercials so awesome. It also looks more 1986 than 1983... I would say 1985-1987, that was an excellent time to be a kid too. Today's kids don't know how to be "kids" because they grow up on computers, Playstation and cable. They never go outside to ride bikes, run around in the dirt or use their imaginations with toys. These kids just had that "What do I do now?" look that present-day kids have whenever they are left to their own devices to have fun.

this article was fun, the commercial would fool anyone from the 90's and up (including me) do I kept thinking it was real until you said it was fake



but its a very convincing fake
