You don’t have to go to San Francisco to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Here at Yester California Adventure, it’s just beyond the park entrance.

Werner great article and it was very cool to see the construction photos from 2001. There is one typo i spotted! The Golden Gate Bridge at Disney’s California Adventure (now Disney’s California Adventure) opened with the park in 2001. I believe this should be Disney California Adventure. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the great article. John Hench and Walt Disney were always concerned about scale. Many visual tricks were used in Main Street to make the small building appear larger. With the exaggerated proportions of the Golden Gate at DCA, it only made it look smaller. The big banners and out of scale Christmas decorations did not help either. I am glad that the new bridge will be a better scale to the entrance. It should work better.
I still feel that it is strange that a train from the future is going to flash by visitors to 20's Hollywood. I don't believe that people would be excited if the Monorail went over a bridge on Main Street.

Actually the design of the DCA Golden Gate Bridge was fatally flawed from its inception. Although the detailing was beautifully executed, the actual "suspension" cable span between the two towers was reduced from the original sweeping cable span of the San Francisco Bay to a silly looking drooping loop. It resembled more of a jump rope than the majestic Golden Gate cable suspension.
I am so glad it was removed- the design was horrible

Great article. I agree with as some have posted. That the scaled down Golden Gate Bridge at DCA had cables that looked like jump ropes and did not look as gracefull as the orginal. I am glad to see it go.

The Glendale-Hyperion bridge appears in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Roger and Eddie rode Benny the Cab across the bridge after geting away from the weasels and the motorcycle cops.
