I DO remember a lot of walking, now that I think about it, but I was so thrilled to be there that it didn't seem bad at all!

If you go, don't think this is like any other museum that you've ever been to.
If you are at all interested in Walt Disney, any of his creations and collaborations or the history of hollywood, this museum is truly a multi-day event.
I recommend it highly. It is very, very well-done.

Thanks Werner for the great article on the museum. It was great talking to you the last day of your visit. Sorry I kept you standing in the doorway so long on a rather chilly night as the museum was closing.
Lombard Steet with it's row of 1950's and 60's motor hotels is sort of a hidden affordable gem. The area around Lombard is a great neighborhood with shopping, plus restaurants and it's one of the safer neighborhoods in San Francisco. The motor hotels remind me of Harbor Blvd across the street from Disneyland, only a bit more laid back. It's a great location for visiting most everything in San Francisco and you get the feeling that your living in a local neighborhood, not a tourist zone. The quality of the motor hotels can vary, I would check online to see reviews for various properties. The neighborhoods that Lombard Street disects are "The Marina District" to the north of Lombard and "Cow Hollow" to the south of Lombard. Of course, Lombard runs to the East and West.
Gullywhumper is back on the Rivers of America!
I find it surprising that the website for the Presidio, under things to see and do, or under museums, does not list the Walt Disney Family Museum. It would be helpful for people planning a trip to the Presidio area.
