I miss the Neverland theme, it was already so nostalgic with the pirate ship and skull rock. I just don't get it why 'the powers that be' see fit to change things that are already great, when there are quite a few things that are terribly outdated and poor, and should be changed first... yet don't get any attention.
The evolution of the central hotel area reminds me of what happend to EPCOT. They replaced impressive yet dated things with infearior budget refreshes that don't fit the original master plan(thus diminishing the overall experience). The hotel once had a "marina front" theme/vibe, but is now lacking something. The pirate thing looked cool but was too small scaled and budgeted. I love fun tacky retro stuff, but the new vibe with cement, steel and kiddie urination slides hasn't warmed me up yet, but it could have been worse. Though what it replaced might have been better.

I could jump in that Neverland Pool right now! It looks a lot better and way more fun than the new one. I guess it's a sign of the times--just like Las Vegas--the de-theming of everything. Bring back the outrageous signs, the hot dog stands shaped like giant hot dogs, the Jack-in-the Box order machine at Jack-in-the Box. Today's world is way too bland.
I have to admit, the new pool complex as well as Tangaroa and Trader Sam's all came out very nice, but it lacks the established and grown in look of the former Neverland/Waterfall forest area. I'm not sure if the new is ever going to have as lush of a look.
And the marina - I miss that the most. Oh well, we have pictures.
