Sep. 7, 2012: Never Land Pool

Peter Pan can fly. Here at the Never Land Pool, you can fly down a 100 foot-long water slide.

    Please discuss it here.

I miss the Neverland theme, it was already so nostalgic with the pirate ship and skull rock. I just don't get it why 'the powers that be' see fit to change things that are already great, when there are quite a few things that are terribly outdated and poor, and should be changed first... yet don't get any attention.

The evolution of the central hotel area reminds me of what happend to EPCOT. They replaced impressive yet dated things with infearior budget refreshes that don't fit the original master plan(thus diminishing the overall experience). The hotel once had a "marina front" theme/vibe, but is now lacking something. The pirate thing looked cool but was too small scaled and budgeted. I love fun tacky retro stuff, but the new vibe with cement, steel and kiddie urination slides hasn't warmed me up yet, but it could have been worse. Though what it replaced might have been better.

The Disneyland nostalgia theme of the 2001-2012 Disneyland Hotel renovation brought the end of the Never Land Pool.
    Shouldn't that be 2010, not 2001?

For me the biggest losses were the Dancing Waters and the waterfalls... sigh...

The waterfalls will be a future Yesterland article.

Alas, I have no photos of the Dancing Waters show. So, unless someone has some amateur photos of the show to share, the Dancing Waters show will not be "collected" at Yesterland.

I think there's a few youtube videos or other online videos of the show you could link. I wish I had gotten to experience the Neverland Pool, but back then I was distracted by the awesomeness that was Disney's California Adventure...

I hope you're right about the Pirate Ship and Skull rock one day coming back.

I could jump in that Neverland Pool right now! It looks a lot better and way more fun than the new one. I guess it's a sign of the times--just like Las Vegas--the de-theming of everything. Bring back the outrageous signs, the hot dog stands shaped like giant hot dogs, the Jack-in-the Box order machine at Jack-in-the Box. Today's world is way too bland.

I have to admit, the new pool complex as well as Tangaroa and Trader Sam's all came out very nice, but it lacks the established and grown in look of the former Neverland/Waterfall forest area. I'm not sure if the new is ever going to have as lush of a look.

And the marina - I miss that the most. Oh well, we have pictures.

Thank you for catching my typo.

I meant "the 2009-2012 Disneyland Hotel renovation," not the "the 2001-2012 Disneyland Hotel renovation."

The renovation began in 2009: Disney announces multi-phase Disneyland Hotel renovation beginning in August
