    Re: ***1980 Family trip pics***

Looking at these is like looking at an old family album. I would bet that somewhere I could find my mom's old albums and I would have photos that look exactly like that.

Thanks for the pics. Now I have to go raid my parents house.
Check out my new Disney Blog here. What it lacks in quality it makes up with... Well, nothing I guess.

Too funny because we had an old VW camper bus when I was a kid too. I can still hear that high pitched motor in my memory!

This whole thread is awesome! I am so glad those short shorts are not in anymore! Lots of memories flooded in with that photo of the original entry to DL.

Geez, did people dress in the dark in the 80's? Scary to think I was dressed like that, too.

No, some stores are actually trying to bring them back. That had loads of those and more at Forever 21 earlier this year. I felt like I had walked into a "Three's Company" tribute.

It's Main Street from Center Street and they are watching a parade. The building across the street, on the left with the curved front entrance, is the clothing store. In the back is the Ice Cream window where they sell the Root Beer Floats and other Ice Cream treats, and where the lockers are located today. The float is covering up the Market Store with the old phones and stuff.

I worked 16 hours of that 25 hour day of the 25th anniversary, July 17, 1980...two different shifts...and in between I watched the special ceremonies at 2-30 pm in the Town Square (not quite the extravaganza of the 50th to say the least)...

I do so enjoy pictures taken during the years I worked at the park.

    Great job!

Those are some great pictures! In regards to the parking lot, I recall seeing the old sign markers (like Pinocchio, Eeyore, Mickey ... ) for sale on eBay ... and believe me ... if I had the money I would have bid.

I still remember the old parking lot, I've had it in dreams before (which is really weird b/c I haven't been to Disneyland since 1994, the good old' days)

The store on the left of that picture (which is now the Disney Clothiers) was operated by Hallmark as evidenced by the crown.

Other posters are correct; the photo was taken from inside Carnation Cafe on Main Street.

The parade passing by is the 25th Anniversary Family Reunion Parade, which had floats to represent each of DL's lands. This one was for New Orleans Square.

A better photo of the float can be found at this web site:

Didn't work it, but friends did. Where in the park were you working?
