One thing I would like to say NOT about the character costumes, but of the Cast Member costumes, is that I personally liked them before...Now, I grew up in the 90s, so I obviously don't remember things past 1990, but I have seen pictures and I like them better. They are all very similar now, and I loved the cheesyness of them. And each land had its own style of costumes. I mean, they do still now, but they are a lot more similar to eachother. Like the big coats (which look really comfortable haha)...I dunno...I guess there is still a difference, but I like the older ones better...don't get me wrong tho...the new ones are fine lol
Great point princedalton. Does anyone have some photos of the old versus new CM costumes? I do agree that each land should have a distinct outfit, not just khakis and a different colored shirt. I love the big heavy coats that the Haunted Mansion CMs wear now and think each area should have something distinctive. I have seen a photo in Oogie's retro photo thread of the old Jungle Cruise skipper uniforms and I thought they were very neat and fitting for Adventureland (especially since I think the Tahitian Terrace was still open next door at this time).Quote:

On the opening day video of Disneyland (and others from that time) there appeared to be some odd jagged pattern around Mickey's mouth. Almost like he had teeth. Anyone else notice that?

Also Piglet, Robin Hood, Cubbi (I seen pics of the first year 85 and have vid of him from a parade in 90, during the DA premire), he got the tuff of hair he had in the later years of the show, that the original didnt have.
Mickey has the most changes, if you see old Disneyland shows, from 55 to 79, you see him change in apperance.
Another not mentioned, Scrodge McDuck, who got a revamp in 87 from his 60's look. As well as baloo (all eras)
The big heads were likely designed to be more "child friendly". Children and infants' heads are proportionately larger to the rest of the body. Animators take that in consideration when drawing "baby" characters. Take a look at the Baby Mickey or Baby Muppet character drawings. That's likely why the huge heads, to make them seem "younger" and therefore less threatening to the kids.
i'm personally liking the old jungle skipper shirts...especially on that dude in the picture!
