Holidayland (Disneyland)
Before New Orleans Square at Disneyland, there was Holidayland, a land that opened June 16, 1957. Holidayland is often referred to as the "lost" land of Disneyland. Holidayland had its own admission gate and could hold up to 7,000 guests, for large events. It also had playgrounds, horseshoes, baseball field, volleyball, and other activities. It was also noted because it was the only place in Disneyland that sold beer.
Holidayland closed in 1961 due to its lack of shade, nighttime lighting, restrooms, and alleged lack of Disney "flavor".

I would love to see the video if ever possible.
Never heard of it....thanks for the info!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,it's what they are like in their HEART!

I didn't know it was THAT huge!
EDIT: Technically speaking, Holidayland has now been "replaced" with Festival Arena, Millionaire building, and Hollywood & Dine![]()

So, Did Disney own Holidayland? Why wasn't it on park maps?
they owned it, it might not have been on the maps because it was kinda self contained and had its own entry
