WDW never had plans to build MTTNW because they were supposed to get the WRE of course.
I have the full ride through soundtrack of this on my in my iTunes and on my iPod.

Right--the WRE woulda incorporated some elements even...
Keeline is a great site but doesn't seem to have that interview any longer![]()
When Disneyland opened, it catered to the main interests of kids at that time... for boys that was Cowboys/Indians Old West stuff, and Space... as NASA was grabbing headlines and the space race was heating up. Into the 60's that Cowboys/Indians thing lingered for a while... but Hopalong Cassidy, The Lone Ranger, Tom Mix, Roy Rogers, etc. were either gone or on the way out. Disney itself was a main source of "Old West" production with it's popular Daniel Boone series, and of course Bonanza and Wild Wild West and Gunsmoke were in production, but by the mid-70's interest had fallen off to the point the only westerns on TV were re-runs. Today, you hardly even see those. When was the last time you saw kids dressed up like Cowboys, running around with cap pistols? The whole Tom Sawyer/Daniel Boone thing Disney started with Frontierland and the island hasn't been popular with young kids for at least a quarter century now. It's fun to travel back to those simpler times via Disney, but they have to focus on new generations too. I can see Frontierland being phased out entirely at some point, but I sure hope it's not replaced with HipHopLand or Gangstaland or something like that... :/
Read more about that Main Street Dentist audio here. Funny connection.

well, according to Lutz's article, there might be a new mine train ride going over in DCA in Golden State.
I've never ridden Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland because it was long gone by the time I was born. But the mine ride at Knott's is a favorite of mine, even though the AAs are horrible and the sound system is awful. Disney's was 100x better I'm sure, and I'd like to see another incarnation.
