    Good idea!

And I have to wonder what is next...Places where we can't actually eat?

But with the price of gas nowadays at $3/gallon, it's a good thing we can't buy gas at these places.

Actually the Goofy Gas pumps are no longer in DL's Toontown. They've been replaced since the summer by two oil barrels (red and blue) instead. No idea whether the original "fish" pumps will ever be back, they were much more interesting than two barrels, that's for sure. Just another sign of the neglect that Toontown endures at DL.

I saw that this week at Disneyland. I had hoped to take a clearer picture of the gas pumps, only to find they were missing. So I used the older, somewhat fuzzy picture that's now in the article.

My assumption was that the gas pumps are being refurbished and will return. I thought it was a nice touch that they put in barrels as temporary place-holders. I wasn't aware that the pumps have been gone since the summer.

I can't believe that management as Disneyland would allow a gas station in Disneyland's Toontown without gas pumps -- especially in that highly visible location. The gas pumps are fun photo op with kids. And it makes no sense to have barrels permanently instead of gas pumps at a gas station.

I expect to see the pumps return. I hope I'm right.

Werner, I really love your website and these articles. They are so much fun! I love your perspective on the parks.
*side note* I heard about your website while standing in line at Space Mountain in DL two years ago; people were talking about this website of the old rides of DL. The very next second I was in front of a computer, I logged on and have been hooked ever since.

Werner, you missed an obvious Yesterland entry with the gas station update.

Before Chevron at DCA, there was Condor Gas.

Chevron took over Condor Gas some time between March 2005 and June 2005.

Great picture! The Condor Gas pumps were much more entertaining than the Chevron pumps.

I assume that the change had something to do with Chevron's sponsorship of the Autopia. If that's the case, it's a shame that whoever insisted on the change (whether it was someone from Chevron or Disney) didn't understand that old Condor Gas pumps didn't "compete" with the Chevron sponsorship, and that the current Chevron branding on those old pumps doesn't do much to promote the Chevron brand favorably.

i certainly was very disapponited - it was a sell-out to corporate cash. this is a favorite tradional photo spot of ours, so i caught it the first visit after it had occured.

good stuff from you, i enjoy reading it since my visits started early enough to ride the Flying Saucers.

The red and blue metal barrels still stand at the DL Toontown pump place, and as of 12/29/07 park guests are now using them to put trash on. Sigh...

That's sad. I would have thought the "pumps" would be back my now.

Good news! The pumps in DL Toontown are finally back! They've been cleaned up and repainted, and look great! The fish bowl in Gadget Go's Coaster has also been refurbed so I guess they were all done at once by someone who specializes in water props.

That's good! It made no sense that red and blue metal barrels would be permanent ó but it was starting to look that way.
