Captain EO DVD

This just popped up on Ebay. I was wondering if anyone's seen it or knows if it'll be any good without the 3D?

These dvds that have been floating around are from a source that isn't in 3D. so if you're wondering if it's going to be blurry, it won't be. The quality on these are so-so for the most part but I wouldn't recommend paying $20.50 for a bootleg dvd.

There's some better ones floating around that include an awful 'making-of captain eo' as an extra. I'd recommend looking for that one.

Um, you can find EO on youtube easily, and not have to fork out $25 for a bootleg.

Thanks Sailer.....I just checked it out and saved $25. I think I know too much about MJ now to enjoy the show like I did when I was a kid cuz the thrill was gone. Or maybe it just needs 3D......

Yes, it needs the 3D, but you can go to an IMAX theater and see U23D, and not have to worry about giving a pedo your money. Like you I feel very uncomfortable knowing the trouble in MJ's past.

Careful of Star Tours then, it's got Paul Rubens voicing RX-24 (Rex), who just got picked up recently on child porn charges.

if Captain EO was still playing at disneyland, i'd go and see it, as I really don't care to be dwelling on "omg, that perv up there was fondling boys!" i'm there for entertainment, not to spend my time on stuff like that.

I will admit though it is funny having the voice of paul rubens in star tours and realizing that not many probably know who the guy fully is and his past.....

It doesn't make me feel any better, but Paul Rubens (Pee Wee Herman) isn't the main focus and draw to Star Tours, like Micheal Jackson is to Captain E/O. Plus if Disney wanted to, the voice of Rex could be re-cast and nobody would be the wiser. With Captain E/O your still stuck with Micheal Jackson.

I loved Captain EO. I wish that if they were going to replace it, they'd have chosen something BETTER, and not HISTA. I have seen HISTA two or three times....and it's 'done'. I saw Captain EO innumerable times, and never got bored with it - great music, great dancing.......

Me too! But apart from the aforementioned Jackson uneasiness it is very much a product of the 1980's music video generation. The fact that U2, Hanna Montana and IMAX ar just now making use of the technology that Imagineers used in the mid 1980's show's just how far ahead of the curve Disney can be.

Disney should build a new show to make the next leap in story telling.

I would not recommend Hanna Montana, for the same reason that affects Captain E/O it would date itself very quickly.
