Hi all!
I've had a mystery bugging me for a while, and hope someone might be able to clear things up for me: did there used to be a different version of the music at Splash Mountain??
I have the great 6-CD Musical History of Disneyland set and it has a great long version of the full Splash Mountain sequence, which appears to match up with the current ride version as best as I can tell. A while back I had downloaded some of my favorite Disney tunes via Limewire (I knew I was getting the 6 CD set for Christmas and didn't want to wait!) and the version of Splash Mountain I stumbled upon is quite a bit different. The lyrics seem to be the same, but the entire recording has an element of seeming from an older time period. The voices sound like people (rather than "cartoon animals") have that older "barbershop quartet" kind of quality. Additionally, the whole recording has a bit of that "tinny" and scratchy quality you often find in old recordings.
Does anyone know what this is from? Did Splash Mountain have a different soundtrack previously? Was there an older property (TV/film/ride) that had the same lyrics (I'm pretty sure most of the songs on the ride are new creations, not from Song of the South)?
To be clear: this is not the music from the queue, nor is it from the Tokyo version of the ride (which I found on You Tube).
Any help with this mystery is much appreciated!
Thanks
Brer Dan
