Disneyland celebrates 64 years tomorrow, July 17th. Since its gates opened in 1955, Disneyland has been a place of adventure and magic for countless millions of guests (we estimate well over 700 million of them). 2019 brought a lot of change to the Resort, including its largest expansion ever, but this anniversary is a time for us to honor and remember what makes Disneyland the most beloved theme park of all time.
Each anniversary is a chance for us to reconnect with the past. To walk down Main Street USA as Walt would have done. To linger and watch the Marching Band, listen to the Dapper Dans, or get dizzy on the Carousel or Tea Cups.
And since Disneyland was essentially Walt’s giant train set, we always take a grand circle tour aboard the iconic Disneyland Railroad.
Disneyland 64th Birthday Celebration
For the 64th anniversary of the original Disney theme park, there will be a “Disneyland Celebration Cavalcade” down Main Street featuring Mickey, Minnie, and other favorite Disney characters. It will be offered at 2:50pm and 5:20pm. And in tribute to the man who started it all, a recording of Walt’s opening day speech will be broadcast to celebrate the park’s history.
How Will You Celebrate Disneyland?
Today’s version of Disneyland is spectacularly different than when it first opened. However, there are still many attractions and areas throughout the park that still evoke opening day. Our suggestion for celebrating Disneyland’s 64th is to ride (or at least try to) the original attractions. Rides such as Autopia, the Disneyland Railroad, Jungle Cruise, King Arthur Carrosel, Mad Tea Party, Main Street Cinema, Mark Twain Riverboat, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Peter Pan’s Flight, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and Storybook Land Canal Boats still delight guests every single day.

This year, three Disneyland attractions also celebrate big anniversaries.The Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Monorail, and Submarine Voyage all turned 60 this year! And the beloved Haunted Mansion turns 50! We’ll be adding these attractions to our list of must-dos tomorrow.
