A slew of small attractions are headed to the Disneyland Resort, they are scheduled to begin arriving this month and will add entertainment, characters, the return of a long closed attraction, and a peak at the future.

Monday In The Parks

  • High School Musical 3 rolling performance stage will be coming to the Disneyland Resort on October 24th.  It replaces the High School Musical 1 and 2 version of the same show at California Adventure.
  • Pixie Hollow is set for an October 28th opening, but much construction and landscaping is left to be done to meet this date.
  • The new Disney’s California Adventure (DCA) Preview Center, officially called the Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar, will open in the former spot of the Seasons of the Vine in DCA on October 20th.
  • Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-through has a flexible “Mid-December” opening date.  The new version of the Castle Walk-through will feature a return to the original look of the attraction using modern Imagineering technology to enhance the effects.
  • Small World Holiday returns on November 21st after a long closure.  The beloved attraction has been the subject of news and speculation as the attraction’s flume and boats needed to be rebuilt to handle the heavier nature of today’s park guests.  It is also rumored (by Al Lutz of MiceAge.com) “the small world refurbishment project was driven by a clearly stated desire to allow today’s lower riding boats to travel easier through the ride. The old flume from the World’s Fair is being gutted, and a new flume conveniently designed to be one inch deeper will contain a new fleet of purposely lighter boats that ride up to an inch higher in the water. Those extra two inches of clearance will allow for several hundred more pounds of weight in each boat, keeping the churro loving tourists of today sailing through the ride just as easily as their lighter predecessors did back in the 1960’s.”

There are lots of additional changes and operational updates to report today, including Miley’s Sweet 16 birthday party.  Read the entire Monday in the Parks weekly update of News and Tips for the attractions in Southern California HERE
