Dateline Disneyland: So Long Timon Hello Mermaid

Categories: Dateline Disneyland, Disneyland

It was a crazy weekend.  Normally, the Disneyland Resort is packed on the 4th of July.  Not this year.  Most of the day was a dream, until evening when the Fireworks hunting crowds suddenly showed up in droves.  Construction is progressing toward a new California Adventure. Dinosaur Jack is gone without a trace and the Golden Dreams Theater sits waiting for the wrecking ball.  But as things disappear, new things pop up elsewhere with the first signs of the Red Trolley construction, artistic touches being added to the World of Color Seating and more.  Every Monday, Andy Castro fills you in on all of the Disneyland news and construction.  Today, he also looks at yesterday's tragic accident at Disney World which sadly resulted in the loss of a Cast Member's life.

Orange and Blue and Red is Over - Disneyland Area News Update

Categories: Disneyland, So. Cal. Attractions

After a relatively short run of service, Monorail Red is already ready for a long rehab.  With Monorail Orange yet to be approved to carry guests and Monorail Blue out of regular service, this places a huge burden on the new Monorail fleet. Back at Big Thunder Ranch, the Barbecue has reopened to public scorn over the high price (made worse by a mandatory tip and high CA taxes).  A new hotel is slated for the corner of Katella and Harbor Blvd ... Welcome To Disneyland’s Monorail Orange

Categories: Disneyland

A long awaited visitor has arrived at the Disneyland Resort, Monorail Orange. Resident Disneyland expert David Michael has captured the arrival of the newest in the fleet of Disneyland Monorails, Monorail Orange.  She is wrapped in white plastic and sitting in pieces in a parking lot.  But soon enough she should be up on the beam and transporting guests. We are still waiting to hear if operational problems with Monorail Red, particularly air conditioning, have been corrected for this newest monorail.  We should have more information for you soon. Additional pictures are available HERE [1] [1] http://miceage.micechat.com/davidmichael/dm081408a.htm

Dateline Disneyland: Hello Blue, Goodbye Watches, Crystals, and McDonald’s

Categories: Dateline Disneyland, Disneyland, MiceChat News, Uncategorized

Hello Blue! The new Blue has been spotted on the beam - and she is beautiful. Meanwhile, two shops have just closed. New Century Time Pieces is closing to remodel for new merchandise (the watch artist has moved to the exit of the Opera House) . The Three Fairies Magic Crystal Shop is also closing, to make room for enhancements and the return of the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-Through. But the biggest departure is McDonald's. The fry carts and Burger Invasion are flying the coop to make room for healthier fare. Also this week, amazing shots of Disneyland at night and tons of pictures from Comic-Con '08 which packed the house in San Diego last weekend. News and Discussion Roundup: Monorail Blue, Funny Pictures, World of Color

Categories: Disney Company News, Disney World, Disneyland, Entertainment, Hong Kong Disneyland, MiceChat News, Official Meets, Regional Theme Parks, Tokyo Disneyland, Weekly Roundup

This week, we attempt to get to the bottom of what's going on with Monorail Blue, the 2nd of the new monorails to arrive at the resort, and when it may begin carrying guests. WheresMickey started a discussion asking for your funny theme park pictures. At Disney World, The Country Bears are set for a big rehab. The Swan and Dolphin hotels have been voted "Best Resort." #1 Goofy wants to know what the difference between the two Mission Space options are. We also have trip reports and information about Maui, Northern California, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Paris, and a great deal for people who want to visit Universal Japan. And of course, you'll be able to discuss the potential impact on Shamu that the sale of Busch may have on the Busch Entertainment theme parks (Sea World, Busch Gardens, Aquatica, Discovery Bay, Sesame Place, and Water Parks). If you've been to the movies this week, we'd love to hear your reviews. Journey to the Center of the Earth and Hell Boy II are but two of the many movies currently being discussed. Dateline Disneyland: Face Off For the Sun Wheel, Red Rides Again, Photos Galore

Categories: Dateline Disneyland, Disneyland

It's another photo Friday with Andy Castro and his wonderful Dateline Disneyland column on MiceChat. This week, new Midway Mania signs have replaced the old ones, but still feature "Disneyland" instead of California Adventure - and still don't reflect the full name of the attraction. Monorail Red is up and running and taking guests for round trips to Downtown Disney and back. Just be sure to get there early. You don't want to be caught on this baby in the heat. Toon Town gets some love. The Sun Wheel is losing face. And some great photos of the exhibits in the Main Street Opera House. Monday in the Parks: Monorail, Fastpass, Fireworks, Crowds Updates

Categories: Disneyland, Monday In The Parks

David updates us on the current status of Monorail Red, changes to the Fastpass system, what high winds did to Fourth of July fireworks, and the cheap wine being drunk by the Elias family in their lackluster Dream Home.     We were able to get on Monorail Red Sunday evening - but just for boarding.  As soon as we were comfortable in our seats, we were instructed to exit the train (no reason was given).  We got close, but didn't get to ride.  Mechanical issues aside, these new trains are a work of art.  Simply stunning in their design. Dateline Disneyland: Innoventions Dream Home Review, Monorail Open, Wall-E-Wood Land

Categories: Dateline Disneyland, Disneyland

The Microsoft Dream Home is open and MiceChat reporter Andy Castro is there with an early review.  Monorail Red has also made a hot opening.  And we mean "Hot" as in no airconditioning and windows that open just a few inches.  Wall-E has given Cruella the boot in the Hollywood Pictures back lot and has a Godzilla size location in Downtown Disney.  We round things out with hotel updates and construction updates.
