Oscar®-winning animation studio LAIKA, who brought us Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings, are returning to the heart of the historic Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego with an all new, three-times-as-big LAIKA LIVE exhibit!

Coinciding with the city’s PRIDE and Comic-Con festivities, it will actually run WAY longer than SDCC, longer than a week, even; from Friday, July 13 to Sunday, July 22, 2018!

You’ll see fan art on display, too. Did you do some of it? Send me a photo!

There will be a DAILY drawing for a pair of coveted Coraline Dunks from Nike; (I wear a size 9W, my husband wears a size 17 and Nike is one of the VERY few companies that actually makes them!)

For you social media types, there will be easy-to-share social media activations, so you can effortlessly get this content out to your followers and your jealous, jealous friends. But there’s a LAIKA merchandise store right there so you can bring them back a present and make them feel better. Included are brand new items and limited edition Coraline items; better yet, here’s the link to LAIKA’s online store.  You can have it sent right to them!

There will be multiple giveaways of other stuff that they’re not spilling about quite yet, and more. (…which means, SHOW UP!)

LAIKA President & CEO Travis Knight, whom my friends in animation say has been a great friend to animation, will lead a Facebook Live tour of the exhibit on Saturday, followed by a signing with an as-yet-to-be-announced super-secret special guest. Please, Walt, let it be Hugh Jackman, even if I can’t be there. The signing is at eleven, first-come, first-served, time permitting (that usually means the person doing the signing has to go do an interview or TV appearance or something and will have to cut it short eventually. Don’t take it personally if he has to get up and go before you reach him, and keep this in mind when you’re getting your stuff signed by anyone. There are people behind you and a time limit.)

The release date for “Missing Link” is set for April 19, 2019.

  • Norman and Zombie Judge from ParaNorman
