Richard Kraft represents some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, he’s also a big Disney nerd with the resources to have collected items you’d only dream of owning from the Happiest Place On Earth. All of that amazing stuff, which once adorned the Kraft home, is now on display in Sherman Oaks, California, for all to see. And if you have some spare change burning a hole in your pocket, you can place a bid to own an item or two as well.
My good friend Trevor Perez joined me on a journey through Richard Kraft’s collection and we share some of the photo and video with you.
I took a little tour of the exhibit the other day and streamed it live on Facebook, but you can still see it here:
The collection was too big to display at the auction house, Van Eaton Galleries, so they rented out a former Sports Authority. It’s a giant 2 story space with theater seating above and galleries below.
The exhibit is divided up more or less like Disneyland itself. There are sections for each of the lands and some surprises along the way that don’t quite fit the confines of the park.
The gee wiz section of the exhibit are the ride vehicles:
Doombuggy!!!
Collectors will be clamoring for attraction posters and all sorts of Disneyana:
And how on earth did Richard collect so much amazing concept art? It’s absolutely incredible:
But it’s the stuff that was once in use in the parks that I dream about owning. . .
They’ve even set up a wonderful photo op.
The exhibit is free to visit (Wednesday through Sunday from noon until 8pm). However, you’ll need to act quickly, it all ends August 24th and is being auctioned off on the 24th and 25th of this month!
Don’t miss the entertainment!
They’ve also set up a theater in the space. It’s an intimate venue with some impressive content. Two upcoming events which you’ll want to be part of are the Broadway Princess Party (starring 3 of Disney’s Broadway divas) and the legendary Alan Menken in concert:
