Your Pixar Pals are packing up their summer-long Pixar Fest just in time for Halloween to take over. After that we’ve got the long Christmas season, so you won’t see what the parks look like in their natural state again until January!
This is also the end of the line for A Bug’s Land, which will be exterminated as of the 4th.

Pixar Fest
It was an ambitious festival which took over both parks. New fireworks, special foods, limited time merchandise, entertainment . . . and a new/old land was revealed as well, Pixar Pier.
We wrote a LOT about the festival over the last few months . . .

In the end, the decorations began coming down before the festival was even over. By the end of the week, all of this will be gone.
The Extermination of “a bug’s land”
Watch out Flik, the bug traps have been set, and the Marvel characters want Ant Island!
While the Pixar pals are flourishing on Pixar Pier, September 4th is the end of the line for a bug’s land, which will become Marvel Land.
With It’s Tough to be a Bug already closed, they’ve been running the Blueberry Jamboree to give young kids a little something extra to do. Kids can color, get hats, and have their faces painted.
Flik’s Fun Fair was built on the quick near the It’s Tough to be a Bug theater in 2002, but it also filled a niche. The park opened in 2001 without enough things for younger kids to do. To address the concern, 4 carnival-style rides were quickly added to a bug’s land, and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was also rushed into construction. Ironically, both of those projects will be extinct or re-themed after this Tuesday.
We’ll be seeing Flik’s Flyers again next year, when it moves to the Inside Out section of Pixar Pier. The theme will be altered to reflect the thought bubbles from that film.
Francis’ Ladybug Boogie is very similar to Tow Mater’s Jamboree in the nearby Cars Land. Both rides use interlocking turntables.
Tuck and Roll’s Drive ’em Buggies was neutered before it ever opened to the public. Disney’s safety lawyers required the ride to be slowed down to a crawl. It’s almost painfully boring to watch and almost as boring to ride. As you walk through the park, you are walking faster than these vehicles move!
Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train was another problematic attraction. Though adorable and with some clever audio and props, the attraction was so short that it took longer to load and unload than the actual ride took.
Flik and Atta are likely to be seen in Pixar Pier, but the land itself is on the way to Yesterland.

Tropical Hideaway and Tiki Room Refurb
Meanwhile, over in Disneyland, Adventureland continues its big project. A new seating area and eatery is on the way as well as some entrance and exit changes to the Tiki Room.
The Dole Whip stand remains available during the construction, though it’s surrounded by walls
If you walk by the Tiki Room, take a look at the fun posters for the attraction from around the world, as well as proposed versions.
Here are some pictures of the decorations hanging on the construction wall and some random decorations from the area.
Mobile Ordering Expands to New Locations
As Dusty told was likely to happen when Mobile Ordering was first launched, the Tiki Juice Bar, Harbour Galley, and Bayside Brews (in DCA) have all been added to the system.
Refurbs and Maintenance
The Main Street Cinema is behind construction walls. Don’t stress, there are no plans to change the inside at this time.
As is now the custom, the Main Street facade refurbishments are covered by printed tarps.
In New Orleans Square, there are construction walls in front of the Haunted Mansion. Some modifications are being made to improve crowd flow.
In Tomorrowland, they are removing the seating that used to be part of the support columns. This is yet another improvement to improve crowd flow. Now, when are they going to remove the rocks at the Tomorrowland entrance?
The south mural remains unchanged in Tomorrowland . . .
The north mural has been painted black.
The Matterhorn is down for refurbishment as well.
Star Wars Land Construction
For some of you, our weekly Star Wars construction photos are like watching paint dry . . . but it’s been really fascinating for me to watch the land going up in near real time. The first photo below shows the revised end of the river, the new rock berm around the river, and the new rock mountains which disguise the Star Wars attraction show buildings.
And from outside the park . . .
Halloween Transition
If you’ve visited in the last few days, you no doubt noticed that the Pixar Fest banners have come down and Halloween is going up!
One of the most anticipated Halloween attractions . . . Haunted Mansion Holiday!
The giant Oogie Boogie sign is on the way to DCA.
Around Disneyland
The first few pictures are from Tarzan’s Treehouse. The last time I climbed those stairs was in the early 90’s.
There are some upkeep issues in the treehouse.

The Anaheim Hotel
MiceChat is lucky to have a wonderful partner like the Anaheim Hotel. We’ve been holding Gumball Rally and special events here for years, but it’s the comfortable rooms and close proximity to Disneyland that make it our choice. I live in Las Vegas. To shoot an update for you, I need a place to stay. I’ve stayed almost everywhere, but The Anaheim Hotel is really my home away from home.
On my recent trip, I really enjoyed the in-house Pizza Press restaurant. Custom pizzas with gourmet-quality ingredients. They even have a non-dairy cheese option so Dusty can eat here too. Really good!
There is so much space in these rooms! Huge double sinks in my room.
Nice amenities . . .
Comfortable rooms with plenty of space for luggage, kids, and making the space your vacation home.
Here’s where I wrote out this update:
