We have a bit of sad news for those of you hoping to see the return of World of Color this holiday season.
Disneyland tried hard to get this popular fountain show back up and running in time for the busiest two weeks of the year, but a decision has been made to delay the relaunch until everything is in complete working order.
Earlier this season we had reported that the World of Color arena was being prepped for the Season of Light version of the show and cast members were told that the show was about to return. The additional light barges needed for the holiday show were also placed in the lagoon and tested. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t quite ready and the hard decision was made to postpone the show for now.
We should be hearing more from Disney about World of Color very soon and if everything works out, it should return in the next few months.
Here’s a full video of Season of Light, which we consider to be the best version of World of Color.
Operationally, World of Color is needed to help balance evening crowds in the resort. With Fantasmic, Fireworks and a Christmas parade all at Disneyland, something big is needed to pull crowds across the esplanade after nightfall to DCA. For this season, continue to expect Disneyland to be VERY busy after dark as guests flock to the park to see the evening entertainment.

Do you miss World of Color? What other types of evening entertainment would you like to see at Disney California Adventure to help tempt crowds away from Disneyland?
