The horns have been blown, the last slice of fruitcake tucked away safely in a lead-lined vault, and the decorations are coming down one at a time throughout the Disneyland Resort. And while almost everything wrapped up last night, DCA’s Festival of Holidays doesn’t end until this Tuesday the 8th. But if you don’t already have a ticket, it’s going to cost you a bit more. . .
Prices Go Way Up
Late Saturday night, Disneyland quietly implemented a major price increase. In addition to annual pass price hikes into the hundreds of dollars, the highest priced single day parkhopper is now $199. Parking has gone up to $25 and Maxpass is now $15 per day. Collectively the largest price adjustment in recent Disneyland history.

A Final Farewell To Christmas
The shiniest season of them all has just twinkled out at the Disneyland Resort. Let’s take a look at the park these past few days, and next week we’ll visit the park in its native dress.
We recently ran a poll asking which Holiday activity was your favorite. Haunted Mansion Holiday took the top spot, followed by Small World Holiday and the Believe in Holiday Magic Fireworks.
We love Haunted Mansion Holiday, but we are more than ready for classic Mansion to return. 
We stopped to look at the parade one last time . . . Did poor Santa get his sleigh back? Let’s see.
We noticed that the lighting on the parade at night makes some of the characters look a little sinister.
While Santa did reclaim his sleigh after all, the Disneyland website swapped out the image of Santa on his sleigh with the Toy Soldiers from the Christmas Fantasy Parade. This follows the incident in which Santa was ejected from his malfunctioning sleigh in front of a packed performance of the show before Christmas. (More about that HERE)
We also took a stroll over to DCA to see the new snow show on Grizzly Trail.
And we had Festival of Holidays taster card tabs to use up!
We are going to miss the Festival of Holidays, but Lunar New Year starts shortly, followed by the Food and Wine Festival, so there’s lots more great food on the way.
But it’s the memory of fireworks which will linger . . . that magical kiss goodnight.
Disneyland’s Christmas Tree was ready to be retired by the end of the season. Note that the lights in the bottom section were shorted out.
But there will be a small bit of the holidays that will linger until Tuesday at DCA.

Over at the Disneyland hotels, Christmas is mostly removed.
The tree is gone from the lobby.
Over at the Disneyland Hotel, they’ve removed the small bit of Christmas they had this year.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of time. Crowds this holiday season ranged from oppressive to enjoyable. Let’s take New Year’s Day as an example.
New Year’s Day waits were enjoyably reasonable.
But yesterday, the last day of the holiday, was busy again. In fact, all parking filled up at the resort for a time.
Star Tours Single Rider
Some of you may really like this news item . . . but the cast members we spoke with about it weren’t happy about it at all. Star Tours has added Single Rider. Unfortunately, it’s confusing and labor intensive. You enter Single Rider through the Star Trader shop at the exit of the attraction. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts.
Refurbishment Season Is Upon Us
With the holidays departing, Disneyland will launch into all those little projects they need to get done before Spring Break and then . . . drumroll please . . . Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
- That castle refurbishment is going to ruin some family photos.
- And what to make of that Astro Orbitor refurbishment? Could those pathway-blocking rocks finally be on their way out? Could very well be.
- Mansion and Small World refurbishments are simple holiday overlay removal projects.
Parking
The Parking Garage is still in progress but advancing quickly.
Ballast Point
Everything is just about ready to go at Ballast Point, they were doing a little cast preview when we stopped by. They could soft open at any time.
Marvel Rising
We hopped into the MiceCopter to get you these shots of Bugs Land/Marvel Land. It’s mostly dirt now.
Soundsational Returns
Not long now. Soundsational will return January 25, 2019, with a few new enhancements in celebration of Mickey’s 90th birthday.
Galaxy’s Edge Ride Vehicles
Disney is becoming a bit more lax about images and information for Galaxy’s Edge. We recently ran across this image of a ride vehicle.
But it’s these detailed views of the Millennium Falcon which really show off the level of detail in the new attractions.

Disneyland author, David Koenig, introduces us to the man who was Disneyland’s very first tour guide in the months before Disneyland even opened to guests. David will interview Bob D’Arcy and we’ll see images of Disneyland that no one has seen before. We’ll aso have a chat with David about his own new book coming out and books will be available from Bob & David as well as some additional surprises! February 10th – Noon Meet at Disneyland
