Dateline Disney World takes a detour this week to Disney Springs this week to see what’s new and what’s on the way. But let’s start with a look at the empty Cirque du Soleil theater and the riddle about the new show coming this fall.
There’s a new Cirque show in development for this location, but it likely won’t begin performances until at least September of this year. Casting calls for the new performers indicate that the lead role will be played by a 12 year old girl (or a small adult who can play a 12 year old girl). Disney is quoted as saying the show will . . . “draw its inspiration from Disney’s heritage of animation” and “will celebrate Disney’s legacy of storytelling in Cirque du Soleil’s signature way, with a tribute to the one-of a kind craftsmanship that makes Disney so extraordinary.” Hmmmmm. . . . does that sound to you like this could be the first Cirque show to include Disney characters? What do you think?
That does it for this week. Lots of changes coming, especially over on the West Side! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Are you a Disney Springs fan? Do you miss Disney Quest? Looking forward to the new Cirque show? Let us know!, and thanks for reading!
