The theme park summer season has only just started, and Disneyland is already thinking about Halloween. Oogie Boogie Bash tickets go on sale next week, and there’s a brand new street party replacing the Frightfully Fun Parade. Will that be enough to justify the high prices of the event… which starts in mid August?!
But before the cobwebs go up, there’s still plenty of summer business to sort through… construction updates on Disneyland’s upcoming parking structure, a popcorn bucket or two (or three), some good news about your favorite nighttime shows, and a Louis the Alligator sipper that somehow costs more at the churro cart. Plus, refurbishments, news you can use, and lots of fun photos from the resort.
Let’s get into it.
Halloween Time is Creeping In
Disneyland’s Halloween Time kicks off on August 21 and runs through October 31, 2026 (with Plaza de la Familia continuing through November 2).

The season features returning favorites like the long-running Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular at Disneyland and themed attraction overlays, including Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark, Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Luigi’s Honkin Haul-O Ween, and of course, Haunted Mansion Holiday featuring the annual gingerbread house in the ballroom.

But if you want all the Halloween extras, like treat trails, walk-throughs, and maximum character encounters, you might consider the after-hours Halloween party at Disney California Adventure…
Oogie Boogie Bash
Oogie Boogie Bash 2026 will run the following 33 nights:
- August 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, and 30
- September 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27 and 29
- October 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, and 31

The limited-capacity, after-hours event includes the Villains Grove walk-through experience at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, treat trails hosted by new and returning villains, and of course, the rare opportunity to dress up in costume in the parks (yes, even for adults). Party tickets also include admission to DCA three hours before the starting time, and Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads.

New to this year’s line-up is Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party, taking the place of the Frightfully Fun Parade, which has been (we hope only temporarily) sidelined due to construction on the upcoming Coco-themed boat ride attraction. The new street party will feature a spirited séance and swinging wake filled with happy haunts and ghostly dancing.

But will that be enough to entice guests to the event that ranges in price from $139 to $199 per person?

Bridging the Seasons
With Halloween kicking off on August 21st, the Paint the Night parade and Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectaculars were scheduled to go dark after August 9th. But good news: they will both be extended until August 20th, so there won’t be a gap between the end of the Disneyland 70th celebration and the start of the spooky season. World of Color – ONE will also return for a limited time on Aug. 10 and continue through the Halloween season.

And while that might all be very good news, it still leaves Disneyland without a parade (daytime or nighttime).
Future Parking Structure Gets Real
Cast have been notified that the parking lot on Manchester, used by cast members of the parks as well as for Team Disney Anaheim employees, will close in June or July to make way for a future parking structure and new Harbor gateway to the parks. Disneyland has yet to put out anything official about the timeline, but permits have been filed with the city and we expect to start seeing dirt moving around soon…

The parking structure will be built behind the Harbor Blvd hotels, with a bridge spanning Harbor and connecting guests to the Esplanade. A new gateway will welcome guests as they cross the bridge.

All of this is part of the long-discussed DisneylandForward project, which will ultimately rework vast areas, particularly on the fringes of the resort.

Disney will likely make some public statements about all of this soon, as they generally do once info starts to leak.

If you aren’t familiar with DisneylandForward and what it might mean for the Disneyland Resort, we encourage you to read our article, which we have continued to update since the project was first announced:

MiceChat Parking Offer
On the subject of parking… MiceChat has worked out another great parking deal for you at the Anaheim Hotel on Harbor Blvd. Space permitting, you can park for $5 less than you can at the Mickey and Friends parking structure and just walk across the street to the parks. Save this image and take to the front desk of the hotel to pay for parking and get a parking pass for the day:

Popcorn Buckets A-Plenty
The popcorn bucket craze continues this summer with several characters debuting in popcorn bucket form (available while supplies last).
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Cars, a new Lightning McQueen Bucket is racing to Disneyland Resort starting June 9 (limit two per person, per transaction).

Plus, the Bullseye Bucket gallops into Disneyland Resort on June 18 (limit two per person, per transaction).

But it’s not only buckets. The Louis Sipper is already available at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, Refreshment Corner, Tiana’s Palace, Churros & Lemonade in Bayou Country, and Churros & Popcorn near Haunted Mansion (limit 2 per person per transaction).
The price for the Louis Sipper is $29.79 at Hungry Bear Barbecue, Jolly Holiday, Refreshment Corner, and Tiana’s Palace (mobile order available), but we saw it priced higher at the churro carts.

Avengers Campus Turns 5
Avengers Campus celebrated its fifth anniversary on June 4, and the resort marked the occasion by flooding the land with more than two dozen characters for a day of surprise meet-and-greets.

Guests ran into Eternals, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Marvels, along with rarer visitors like Scarlet Witch, Agatha Harkness, and Mr. Knight from Moon Knight.
The biggest surprise of the day was Kate Bishop from Hawkeye, who had previously only appeared in the holiday stunt show. Thursday marked her first time ever meeting guests in the land. (Huge thanks to our friend JJ Parks for sharing her experience with us)

All of this, of course, is happening against the backdrop of a major Avengers Campus expansion currently under construction, with two new attractions in the works. No opening date has been announced, but the fifth anniversary felt like a reminder of just how much this land still has to offer… and how much more is coming.

Constructionland
Construction at the Disneyland Resort is moving at an uneven pace… some projects are wrapping up, while others have no end date in sight… and in some cases, little sign of progress at all. Let’s take a look…
Disneyland
The last big scrim is down on Main Street U.S.A… with just a small bit tucked away behind Refreshment Corner near the crowd overflow gate behind Main Street.

But the same certainly can’t be said about Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, which is still in the thick of its refurbishment project.

One section of the space mural is currently sold black, awaiting the mural cling to be reapplied.

You can see the remaining bit of mural directly above the reopened Store Command.

The shop is now stocked with new Toy Story 5 merch.

And although the store has just reopened from refurbishment… the Little Green Alien mural at the back of the store didn’t get the attention it deserved. It is held together with clear tape!

In New Orleans Square, work continues on Pirates of the Caribbean and also on the Rivers of America.
Even the retaining walls around Pirates are getting a touch-up.
And the Fantasmic fountains are still under refurbishment as well.
The water effects on the island, just behind the Fantasmic refurb, are working again.
California Adventure
It may seem like the Avengers Campus expansion project has slowed down, but we’re told that there’s a lot of work happening inside the massive show building.

Downtown Disney
The Earl of Sandwich and Gordon Ramsay’s “The Carnaby” building at the west end of the district is nearly complete.

On the other hand, Porto’s still has a very, very long way to go.

Disneyland Refurbishment Calendar (updated 6/5/26)

As has become our tradition, we’d like to share some parting shots of the Disneyland Resort with you. For those of you who don’t have the luxury of visiting the parks every week, we hope this brings you a little joy…

Disney has a subtle PRIDE tribute on Center Street, where the original Flower Market was once located. The floral displays create a rainbow.

You can still visit the Sherman Brothers tribute in the Disneyland Cinema. Lots of guests are enjoying the shade in here.

Our friend Jeffrey sent us a couple of the new Galaxy’s Edge magic shots.

Let’s Hear From You!
It’s only the first week of June, and we’re already mapping out Halloween nights, debating whether a street party can replace a parade, and calculating whether a $199 ticket to an after-hours event makes sense. Meanwhile, Main Street is finally scrim-free, Store Command just reopened with tape holding the mural together, and someone at Disneyland thought a Louis the Alligator sipper should cost more at the churro cart. Just another week at the Disneyland Resort.
We’d love to hear what you think about all of it, but especially this: is Oogie Boogie Bash still worth the price of admission to you? The Frightfully Fun Parade is gone, at least for this year, and Madame Leota’s “street party” is stepping in to fill that slot. Is that a worthy trade? And more broadly, is Halloween starting to feel a little stale? Or does that even matter to you?
Tell us where you stand in the comments below. We read every one.
